Sending your live location works best when you need to share directions to a location or keep loved ones informed of your current location. This is useful when your Telegram calls are not connecting to your contacts. But what if your live location stops updating for your contact while you’re on the go?
This may be a concern for you and your trusted contacts. To fix this issue, we are providing working solutions to fix Telegram Live Location not working on iPhone or Android.
1. Check if Telegram is allowed to access the location
An app to share your live location must have permission to access the location on your iPhone or Android. It’s like you need to allow access to the microphone to answer calls. The first solution we recommend is to check if Telegram has been granted location access on your iPhone or Android.
Verify on iPhone
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2nd step: Scroll down and tap Telegram.
Step 3: Tap on Location.
Step 4: Select When using the app or Always.
We suggest you enable precise location.
Step 5: Close Settings and open Telegram to check if the issue is resolved.
Check on Android
Step 1: Long press the Telegram icon and tap App Info.
2nd step: Tap Permissions.
Step 3: Tap on Location.
Step 4: Tap Allow all the time or Allow only when using the app.
Step 5: Close the app info and open Telegram to check if the issue is resolved.
2. Check your internet connection
Your Internet connection may be interrupted when you are on the move. Since you will have to rely mostly on mobile data, the live location will not update consistently. We suggest that you connect to a Wi-Fi network at a cafe or other location and stay in one place to ensure a better live location sharing experience.
3. Keep Telegram running in the background
You often delete background apps on your Android or iPhone to save battery or free up RAM. But in the case of live location sharing, we suggest that you let Telegram run in the background on your device so that your location is always updated.
4. Disable Low Power Mode
Low power mode or power saving mode is recommended when your phone is running out of juice. But it also impacts your live location to be updated in the Telegram app. We suggest that you turn off low power mode on your device.
Disable Low Power Mode on iPhone
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2nd step: Scroll down and tap Battery.
Step 3: Tap the toggle next to Low Power Mode to disable the feature.
Step 4: Close the Settings app and open Telegram to check if the issue is resolved.
Disable battery saver on Android
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
2nd step: Scroll down and tap Battery.
Step 3: Turn off the toggle next to Use battery saver to disable the feature.
Step 4: Close the Settings app and open Telegram to check if the issue is resolved.

5. Enable Background App Refresh (iPhone)
Background App Refresh ensures apps running in the background on your iPhone stay updated as you switch between them. So, in the case of sharing your live location using Telegram, you need to check if background app refresh has been enabled for the app.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2nd step: Scroll down and tap Telegram.
Step 3: Tap the toggle next to Background app refresh to enable the feature.
Step 4: Close the Settings app and relaunch Telegram to check if the issue is resolved.
6. Enable Unlimited Data Usage (Android)
If you are using Data Saver on your Android phone, you may need to update your location due to lack of data usage. We suggest that you enable unlimited data usage for Telegram on your Android phone.
Step 1: Long press the Telegram icon and tap App Info.
2nd step: Select Mobile data and Wi-Fi.
Step 3: Tap the toggle next to Unlimited data usage to turn the feature on.
Step 4: Close the app info and relaunch Telegram to check if the issue is resolved.
7. Update Telegram
If none of the solutions work, we suggest updating the Telegram app on iPhone or Android. This will remove the bugs that are causing this issue with the app.
