How to Get Apple Calendar on Windows 10 PC
Apple iPhone users and critics often criticize the company for developing a closed ecosystem. Apple applications and services like iCloud, Photos, Mail, Calendar, etc. are not available natively on competing platforms. To make matters worse, the company will not allow users to replace the default apps with other Microsoft and Google alternatives.
The situation is improving. Apple recently launched the iCloud web for mobile browsers. So users can view and access Apple reminders, contacts, calendar, pages, etc. on Android devices. For Windows users, Apple has released the iCloud desktop app. With this, you can sync iCloud photos, mail, calendar and even Safari bookmarks with Windows apps.
As for Apple Calendar, there is no direct way to get it on PC. But there are easy workarounds to get things done. In this article, we are going to talk about the four main ways to access Apple Calendar on PC. Let’s start.
1. Use iCloud Web
Apple provides a robust iCloud web solution for accessing key applications and services. Visit iCloud.com and sign in using Apple account credentials.
You can access Apple Notes, reminders, Mail, contacts, the iWork suite and, of course, the Apple calendar. Tap Apple Calendar and view its web version with events, calendars, and more.
You can change the views to weekly or monthly. You can create new events and add all details such as URL, notes, location, time, etc. Using the iCloud web, you can also access Apple Calendar on Linux.
2. Use the Windows iCloud app
Apple has released the iCloud desktop app to let you sync photos, email, iCloud calendar, and more with the Windows computer. It’s a boon for iPhone users who opt for Windows 10 on the desktop.
First, download the iCloud app from the Microsoft Store. Add iCloud credentials to sync data to Windows 10. It will ask you to sync iCloud, bookmarks, photos, mail, and calendar. The app will also display the remaining iCloud storage for your account.
Activate iCloud Mail and Calendar synchronization with Outlook and select Apply. Open the Outlook application in Windows and go to the Calendar option in the lower menu.
You can find iCloud calendars in the iCloud section of the Outlook application. You can view, add events, decline and modify each detail of the event from the application.
3. Copy iCloud calendar from web to Outlook
This is useful for those who don’t want to go through the iCloud app and are waiting for a native Windows experience. Users can manually add the iCloud calendar to Outlook and access it from the Mail and Calendar app in Windows. Here’s how to install it.
Step 1: Open iCloud Web on a browser and select the Calendar option.
2nd step: Decide which calendar you want to export and select the share button next to it.
Step 3: Select Public sharing and copy the sharing link for the calendar.
Step 4: Go to the Outlook web and open the calendar menu.
Step 5: Select the adding calendar under the monthly Outlook calendar view.
Step 6: In the next dialog, tap the option to subscribe from the web.
Step 7: Paste the calendar URL you copied from the iCloud calendar.
Step 8: Click on import, give it a name, an icon and a color, and voila! You have successfully integrated the iCloud calendar into Outlook.
Now you can open the Outlook app on PC and you will find the iCloud calendar under subscribed Outlook calendars.
After that, every time you add new events or make changes in Apple Calendar app on iPhone, it will be synced with iCloud calendar in Outlook on Windows PC.
4. Change the default calendar on iPhone
By default, all events added to the Apple calendar are saved to the iCloud platform. However, you can change this to Outlook. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open the iPhone Settings app and go to the Passwords and Account section.
2nd step: Select Add account and press the Outlook option.
Step 3: Add connection information to integrate Outlook on the iPhone.
Step 4: Access Outlook accounts from the same menu and switch to the Calendars option.
Step 5: Dive into Settings> Calendar, and here you will see all of the settings options for the app.
Step 6: Open the default calendar, and here you will see Outlook calendars as well as iCloud ones.
Step 7: By default, it will be set to iCloud Home, change it to your preferred Outlook account.
From now on, each newly added event in the Calendar application will be saved in the Outlook calendar account.
Head to your PC and open the Calendar app, which has the same Outlook ID as the iPhone. Here you will see all the events that you have added to the iPhone.
Use Apple Calendar everywhere
As you can see in the list above, each option allows you to access the Outlook calendar on PC. Use the iCloud web for a quick look, use the iCloud desktop app for more integration of Apple services, including calendar and photos. And the third and fourth options let you do things without using the iCloud platform.
