How to Add Voice-Overs to Canva Presentations
Slides and presentations can be a bit boring at times. If you’re looking to add a personal touch, adding the vocals behind these creations can help add some oomph to presentations. In addition to adding visual cues, voiceovers add a unique dimension to otherwise simple slides. And graphic design tools like Canva let you add voiceovers quite easily.
There are two ways to do this in Canva for the web: you can either record the audio first. Or, you use Canva’s recording studio (beta) feature.
You will need to access a room without noise and distraction in either case so that the sound is crisp and clear. Once the slides are ready, the tool does the rest.
So, if you like to wander around Canva, here’s how to add voiceovers to Canva presentations.
How to add voiceovers to Canva presentations via audio files
Here we are assuming that you will be adding individual voiceovers to the different slides. Although the web version of Canva accepts audio and video files, slides and presentations work best with MP4 files. Another limitation of adding audio files to slides is that you can only add one audio per presentation.
So, in case you don’t have access to MP4 video, you can easily convert it using one of the many tools like VLC Player.
Since Canva has fairly limited customization options, you’ll need to make sure the files are cut before you upload them.
Step 1: Once all of your slides are complete and ready, upload the files to Canva.
Here, make sure that all of your files are named correctly so that it doesn’t end up confusing you later. The idea is to name the files according to the number of slides.
2nd step: On the first slide (you need to add the voiceover), drag the file to the slide.
Since this is an MP4 file, you will notice a black block at the top of the slide.
Step 3: Click the play icon at the top to see if the audio file plays well. Once done, click on the audio file block and then click on the Transparency icon at the top.
Drag the transparency slider to the right to make the audio block almost invisible. Likewise, you can also change the volume of the audio file by clicking the Volume button in the top ribbon.
Alternatively, you can also push the audio block back if you have a lot of items on your slides. This way the audio block will not be visible.
Repeat the above steps for all slides. Once you’ve got everything in place, hit the play button to see your voiceovers in action
There is also a “Register” button in Canva’s download panel. However, in our testing we were unable to get it to work.
How to add voiceover presentations through Canva
Canva has a built-in method through which you can add voiceovers to presentations already made. Among the many things you need to consider, you’ll need a distraction-free room to record the vocals. This is especially true if you don’t have a dedicated mic and rely on your PC’s mic.
Also, since this is not a direct implementation but a workaround, you will find fewer customization options. Unfortunately, that means you won’t be able to trim and edit the recording on Canva for the web.
Now that we’re done, let’s take a look at how to add voiceovers to Canva presentations.
Step 1: Once you’ve added all the final touches to the presentation, tap the three-dot menu in the far right corner.
Select “Show and Record” from the list of options, then select Start Recording.
2nd step: Of course, you will need to allow audio. For now, you can ignore the camera permission because we want the audio and not the video in this Canva presentation. When finished, press the Start Recording button.
Now all you have to do is record your voice for all the slides. Slides with recorded audio are marked in red. So don’t forget to move along the slides as required by the presentation.
When you need to take a break, click the Pause button above. This way you can also skip a few slides where you don’t want a voiceover.
Step 3: When the registration is complete, click the Done button in the upper right corner.
Depending on the length of the audio and the content of the presentation, the download may take a long time.
In addition to direct download, Canva gives you the option to directly copy and share the link to the presentation.
Find the voice
Canva for PC is a versatile tool. The ease with which it lets you do your job, whether it’s a simple illustration or an Instagram Story, is a charm in itself. And with features like voiceovers, you can be sure your designs and graphics have a personal touch.
