How to enable or disable Clipboard Sharing with Windows Sandbox in Windows 10

Windows 10 Sandbox is increasingly touted as a better replacement for VM. However, there is a problem with this. In the new setting, the Clipboard is shared bidirectionally with the host. Enable or disable clipboard sharing with Windows Sandbox

A new setting has been added in Windows 10 that allows users to enable or disable clipboard sharing with sandbox. You can do the same through Registry Editor or Group Policy Editor. We will discuss both methods in this article.

  1. Open the registry editor.
  2. Go to the Windows Sandbox key
  3. Create a new 32-bit DWORD value “AllowClipboardRedirection“.
  4. Set the value to 0 to disable the Clipboard sharing feature.
  5. Remove the value to enable clipboard sharing.
  6. Restart your PC.

Let’s see the steps in detail!

Using the Registry Editor

Simultaneously press Win + R to open the “Run‘ dialog box.

Type “Regedit“In the empty field of the box and press”Enter“.

When Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following path address –

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsSandbox.

If you can’t find a key with such a name, create one.

Now create a new 32-bit DWORD value and name it “AllowClipboardRedirection“.

Here, double click on the above entry and set its value to 0 to turn off the Clipboard sharing feature.

Otherwise, to enable the same, remove the value.

Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

Using the Group Policy Editor

Open the Group Policy Editor and navigate to the following path address –

Computer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsWindows Sandbox.

Find the policy setting – Allow clipboard sharing with Windows Sandbox.

To enable clipboard sharing with Windows Sandbox, check “Enabled“.

To turn off Clipboard sharing with Windows Sandbox, set the policy to “disabled“.
