How to Fix Battery Not Detected in Windows 10 Error in 8 Ways
There may be several reasons behind this problem. The battery is dead, software problems, outdated drivers, etc., are common problems. I have compiled a list of all the possible solutions to the problem, so please go through the entire list until the battery is detected again.
Let's start.
1. Update the Windows operating system
You know the chorus. Press the Windows key + I to open Settings, and then click Update and Security.
Check for updates here and download and install them. Do not forget to restart your laptop before checking whether the battery is working again or not.
2. AC adapter
It is possible that the power adapter is loose. Duh. If you have already checked, the AC adapter simply does not work, which means that the battery is not charging. I would recommend trying to charge using another adapter. Visit your nearest store to check.
3. Reconnect the battery, clean the compartment
Even if the chances are slim here, this could be possible, especially if you have recently dropped your laptop. Remove the battery from the laptop and put it back in place. You should hear a resounding "click" when everything is in place.
In fact, clean the battery compartment with a dry cloth or blower while you are there. Dust can accumulate anywhere and may hinder the charging process. Oh and do not use water!
7. Battery report
Open the command prompt with Administrator rights by searching it in the Start menu and typing the command below.
powercfg /batteryreport
This will generate a battery report which will be saved here.
C:WINDOWSsystem32battery-report.htm
Open the report and go through it to see if there is a problem with the battery. At this point, you can also try another command that will also generate a battery report.
powercfg -energy
A report will be created and will open automatically in a new tab of Internet Explorer.
8. BIOS update / UEFI
While most new computers have UEFI firmware, some older models continue to run the BIOS. You need to update the firmware here to fix the known bugs. Type "msinfo" without the quotation marks and open the system information to know the current version of your BIOS.
Here is a complete guide on how to enter BIOS mode. Some BIOS modules come with an integrated update option. Since the layout may differ from one card to another, you will have to find it yourself. Only take a few moments.
If the update option does not exist, you will need to visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest version of the BIOS firmware and store it on a USB drive. Here is a good guide on how to flash a new version safely.
Reload, relax, repeat
Living the "lifestyle of a laptop" is impossible without a battery in working order. You simply can not charge a battery that is not even detected by Windows 10. Luckily, one of the above solutions worked for you. If you have found another way, share with us the comments below.
