How to Fix Windows 10 Photos App File System Error

Computers are one of the best systems for viewing multimedia files. Are you unable to view photos of any format or other media files using the Microsoft Photos application on your Windows computer? Does the application display a certain “file system error” each time you try to use it? So we found some solutions to this problem after trying them.

Usually, the Photos app file system error occurs when you run a buggy or an outdated version of Windows 10 on your computer. Some unknown issues with the Photos app can also cause this error and make the app unusable. Whatever the problem, the methods below will help you solve it.

1. Update the Photos app

If you are unable to view the photos on your computer using the Windows Photos application, make sure that you are running the latest version of the application on your Windows PC. Older versions of any system application usually have bugs and problems. This is why you should make sure that your applications (especially those with problems) are always updated.

To update the Windows Photos app, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Launch the Microsoft Store on your computer, search for Windows Photos and press the corresponding result.

2nd step: Press the Update button to update the Windows Photos app on your PC.

If you cannot find the Update button on the page, it means that the latest version of the Windows Photos application is installed on your PC. Continue to the next troubleshooting tip to fix the Windows 10 Photos app file system error.

2. Reset or repair the Photos application

Want to quickly resolve issues with your Windows Photos app? Resetting is something you should try if the above method doesn’t fix the file system error. This will refresh the application to the state it was in when you first used it on your PC. And the best part is that you don’t lose any files or personal data. Here’s how to update the Photos app on your Windows 10 computer.

Step 1: Launch the Windows Settings menu. You can press the Windows Logo + I buttons on your keyboard to do this quickly.

2nd step: Select Applications.

Step 3: In the “Applications and Features” section, tap Microsoft Photos.

Step 4: Select Advanced options.

Step 5: Scroll down and press the Reset button.

Step 6: Press the Reset button on the context map to confirm the reset action.

Alternatively, before resetting the Photos app, you can first try to repair it. When you repair an application, Windows helps detect any problems with the application and repairs it automatically. To repair the Microsoft Photos app, follow the same steps listed above and press the Repair button located just above the Reset button.

When Windows has finished repairing the application, a check mark will appear to the right of the Repair button.

3. Update Windows operating system

4. Reinstall all Windows applications

Step 1: Type PowerShell in the Windows search box and press the corresponding result to launch Windows Powershell.

2nd step: Type or paste the command in the Powershell console and press the Enter button.

The execution of this command can take a few minutes. If the command is successfully executed, all of your integrated Windows 10 apps will be reinstalled and re-registered. Restart your computer and launch the Photos application.

Note: Close the Photos application before running this command in Windows PowerShell. In addition, the control works without an Internet connection, but for best results, make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
