How to Force Dark Mode in One UI 2.0

Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 2.0 update in dark mode for its flagship S10 series launched this year. The next stable update is the Note 10 series. Interestingly, the company even released the One UI 2.0 update for the Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 in India.

A 2.0 user interface makes several welcome changes to Samsung's custom skin. And it also offers Android 10 update with its privacy enhancements and other features. In addition, the update also brings improved dark mode. However, most third-party apps still don't support dark mode.

But thanks to a flip-flop on developer options, users can force apps to use dark mode. This means that some apps would be forced to use the dark mode even if they don't fully support it. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that every app will adopt a dark user interface.

Steps to Force Dark Mode in One UI 2.0

Follow the steps below to activate the Force Dark mode option on your Samsung device with the One UI 2.0 update.

1. First of all, you need to enable developer options on your device.
2. Go to Settings and press About the phone.
3. Then select Software information.
4. Now press Build number for 7 consecutive times.
5. This will unlock the developer options on your device.
6. Now back to Settings page and scroll to the bottom of the list.
7. You should now see the Developer options arrive. Tap it.
8. Go to Hardware accelerated rendering section and then switch to Force dark mode.

After enabling the option, some apps will now have a dark mode user interface. However, it should be noted that you must also activate the dark mode of the system. So activate dark mode via the Notification panel or go to Settings > Pin up and turn on Dark fashion. These are the few apps that have been forced to use a dark theme – Flipkart, Amazon Shopping, Flipboard and Google Pay. Of course, these aren't the only apps that switch to a dark user interface when you activate Force Dark mode.

It should also be noted that you will notice flaws in the user interface of the apps that are forced to use the dark mode. This is of course due to the fact that the app does not actually have a dark mode. So expect interface faults. However, if you are not satisfied with the results of Force Dark mode, you can still turn off the feature.

Therefore, if you were waiting for your favorite app to receive a dark mode, try using the Force Dark mode function. There is a good chance that it activates a dark user interface in the app. But you might not be lucky with that. However, having the ability to force activation of the dark user interface in apps is a bonus.
