Sometimes you have to watch multiple videos together, perhaps with muted audio, to compare them. Maybe you are looking at images from a CCTV camera to understand the sequence of someone entering the apartment. The problem is that most video players don't play multiple videos together, but VLC is an exception. In this article, we will share how to play multiple videos on VLC Player in Windows 10.
Play multiple videos on VLC Media Player
- Open VLC, then click Tools> Preferences (Ctrl + P)> Interfaces
- Then uncheck the box that says – Only allow one instance.
- Then click on the Save button.
If you do not have this option, but the videos are always open in the same case, it is because of the option …Use a single instance when booting from File Manager. Uncheck it, save and it will allow users to use more than one VLC player at a time.
Here's a tip for those who need to play multiple videos and need to play them in sync to compare them second by second.
- Open VLC, then select Media> Open multiple files from the menu
- Add the first file, then click on the Show more options, then check Play other media synchronously
- Click on the Additional media to add the second file.
- Click on Play and the two multimedia files will be played simultaneously with a single player control window

Although it helps to play multiple videos at once, but it can get boring at times. For example, if you open videos one by one and you don't want to see as many video players appear, you can check this option. Each time you play a video after that, it replaces the video currently playing with the one you play next.

That said, if you choose to use an instance mode, be sure to also check the Enqueue option. It will add the new one to the queue in the playlist. Go back to preferences, and this time check the item that says Queue items in a playlist in a single instance mode. To access the playlist, click View> Playlist or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + L. If the playlist comes out, use View> Anchored playlist.
I hope the guide has been helpful and that you can play multiple videos on VLC Player in Windows 10.
