If you do not want to allow other users of your PC to access the Trash Properties panel, this message will help you hide or disable the properties in the trash context menu. The local Group Policy Editor can do the work for you!
The recycle bin helps you to recover all deleted files according to the default settings. the Properties panel has a few options to change the settings. You can activate or deactivate the deletion confirmation dialog, change the size of the trash, etc. in the Properties window.
If you try this method on Windows 10 2004, you will see a message The properties of this article are not available. However, if you are using an older version, the Properties would be deleted. Also, you should know that this tip only works for the trash desktop icon.
Remove properties from the context menu of the recycle bin
To delete, hide or deactivate the properties of the context menu of the recycle bin, proceed as follows:
- Press Win + R to open the Run prompt.
- Type gpedit.msc and hit the Enter button.
- Go to Office politics in User settings.
- Double click on Remove properties from the context menu of the recycle bin Politics.
- Select the Activated option.
- Click on Okay to save the change.
At first, you need to open the local group policy editor. Although there are several ways to do this, you can use the Run prompt to do it. To start, press Win + R together to open the Run prompt. Then type gpedit.msc and hit the Enter button. After opening the Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following path:
User Configuration> Administrative Template> Desktop
Here you can find a policy called Remove properties from the context menu of the recycle bin.
If you enable this setting, the Properties option will not be present when the user right-clicks the Recycle Bin or opens the Recycle Bin, and then clicks File. Likewise, Alt-Enter does nothing when the Recycle Bin is selected. If you disable or do not configure this setting, the Properties option is displayed as usual.
You must double click on this policy. By default, it must be set to Not configured. You must select Activated and click on the Okay to save the change.
Now open the properties of the recycle bin.
If you’ve done everything successfully, it won’t open or you won’t find the option at all.
