If you are using the Outlook email client on your iPad and want to save attachments in Google Drive directly, here is the process you need to follow. This article explains how to save received Outlook attachments to your @ outlook.com or @ hotmail.com email account in your Google Drive account on iPadOS. Although there are several ways to do this, it would be easier if you were using the Outlook email client.
You can save all attachments in Google Drive as long as you have free storage space. Even if you can’t open a file on your iPad, you can keep it in Google Drive without any problem. Similar options are also available on iOS, but this article contains screenshots of an iPad.
How to save Outlook email attachments in Google Drive on iPad
To save Outlook attachments in Google Drive on iPad, follow these steps:
- Make sure your Google account is already added.
- Open the email and tap the attachment you want to save to Google Drive.
- Tap the Share button.
- Select the Save to account option.
- Choose Google from the list.
To get started, you must first add your Gmail account so that Outlook can detect the associated Google Drive storage to save your attachments. If you have already added your Gmail ID in the Outlook application, you do not need to follow this step and you can proceed to the second step.
If you haven’t added your Gmail account in the Outlook app, open the Outlook Settings page and go to Mail accounts section. Here, press the Add an email account and follow all on-screen instructions to add your Gmail account. There is another option called Add a storage account. If you use this option, your email ID will not be added to the Outlook app, but you can use your Google Drive storage to save files. You can use either option as needed.
After successfully adding the email ID or storage account, you can open an email with your file. Now tap on the attachment to open it on your iPad. Then you should see a Share visible button in the upper right corner of your screen.
Tap it and select Save to account option. Then you can see a Google Drive icon with your name on it.
Tap this option to start the registration process. It doesn’t take a long time to complete and it depends on the size of the file or the attachment.
There is a minor drawback to this process. By default, it creates a folder (Outlook) in the root directory of your Google Drive storage, and you cannot change the default saving path.
That’s it!
