In macOS Monterey, you can share the Mac screen on FaceTime, using the new SharePlay feature! This new option is also available on MacBooks, starting with macOS 12.1 (currently in beta), after its premiere on iPhone and iPad earlier this fall!
Share Mac screen with SharePlay
While on a FaceTime video call, you can now listen to music, watch TV shows and movies with your friends and family. In addition to that, you can share the MacBook screen.
This allows you to share your entire desktop or a certain application window with the conversation participants. This is useful during a meeting with coworkers or to have a good time with your loved ones who are far away!
How to share Mac screen on FaceTime
- Open FaceTime on your Mac.
- Click on the green New FaceTime button.
- Add the Contacts you want to make a video call with.
- When the call is answered, the SharePlay button becomes available in the command menu which is superimposed on the video.
- You must choose if you want to share a Window or all Filter.
Advice: Use the FaceTime menu bar to change the window you are sharing or to Stop screen sharing / Window. You can also easily switch between Share the entire view Where Share window.
Made: Besides sharing the Mac screen, you can also watch Apple TV movies and listen to Apple Music songs with the other participants. Each member sees the same synchronized content and has the same controls!
