How to use Video Editor app in Windows 10

I like the simple things and Windows Movie Maker has always been one of my favorite video editing software. I know it is very basic with only a few features, but it's still free, very simple and easy to use. I've been using it all this time to edit my YouTube and Instagram basic videos, but recently I came across the Video editing application of Windows 10. I say that it is hidden because it is not a separate feature of the Photos application. It's also easy to use, but with some extra features to edit my basic videos. I can not call it the best video editing software, but it's very good or basic editing, and yes, it's FREE too.

  • Adding text
  • Motion effects, 3D effects and filters
  • Background music or custom audio

the Video Editor is a feature of the Pictures App on your Windows 10 computer and so, you will not see the thumbnail in your Start menu.

So, basically, you have to search for it, type Video Editor in the search box and you will see the application. Click on the application to access the Photo application, click on Video projects to open this hidden video editor.

Open it and add a new video you want to edit and drag it to the Storyboard.

The first thing we normally use when editing a video is to delete the unwanted part of the video. It's very easy with this publisher.

Just drag both trimming handles on the section you want to trim and press the Done button. You can also select the desired section while playing the video.

You can divide your video into small cuts and edit them, add motion, 3D effects, add filters, resize or rotate them. To spit the cut, just click the Split button, play your video, pause where you want to split and click the Done button. All clippings will then be displayed on your Storyboard.

You can then modify the cuts according to your needs, such as rotate, resize, increase or decrease the volume, change the speed, etc.

The addition of text is still very easy in this video editor. In addition, it has 17 different layouts for adding text. Just click the Text button and write the sample text in the blank window, then select the layout.

I wish they had the functionality to change the colors of the text. Each layout has its own text font and color, and you can not change it.

These effects and filters will make your videos a little more attractive and interesting. The tools here are quite explicit and easy to use. Just click on 3D motion or effects and add your desired effects.

With the Motions tool, you can add new camera motion effects to your video. You can divide the video into different clippings and add a new movement to each clip.

Video Editor has a library of 3D effects such as butterflies, bubble overlays, autumn leaves, fires, explosions and much more. You can add one or more 3D effects in a video.

The filter library allows you to add various filters such as pixel, joy, adventure, ink, sepia, etc.

In addition, you can also change the speed of the video. Make any video in slow motion or a particular clip.

You can use the default Video Editor background music or add custom music as you prefer.

The background music library contains a good collection of copyright-free music for all moods. Select your music from there to click on the "Custom Audio" tab, then add your own music to the video.

When you're done editing, click on the 'Finish Video' tab to make your video ready to be shared with the world. You can also save your video on your OneDrive.

Overall, this video editor of Windows 10 is a basic program very simple and easy to edit your videos. Although I can still use Windows Movie Maker to cut and paste my video clips, I love the movement and 3D effects of this editor.
