How to Fix Live Activities Not Working
If you’ve installed a Live Activity-enabled app, but you’re unable to get a Live Track on the Lock screen or in the Dynamic Island, follow these steps:
1. Enable Live Activities
iOS 16.1 includes a system-wide setting that allows Live Activities to show on the lock screen. This is usually enabled by default, but a glitch or accidental use could disable it:
- Open Settings and press Face ID and password.
- Provide your password and scroll to Allow access when locked section./li>
- Be sure that Live Activities are alight./li>
2. Enable live activities for the specific app
Then you should know that you also need to enable this feature for each app in question. If you don’t get a popup asking you to enable it, you can do it manually in:
Settings -> scroll to [app name] -> Live Activities.
3. Start a live activity for a specific event
Finally, when dealing with third-party apps, you may need to confirm that you want to track each specific event you want to view from the lock screen.
For example, if you want to track a sporting event, you need to open the app covering it and use the in-app menu to start live activity tracking.
This is usually done by pressing a star icon (favorite icon) or on the menu icon and selecting Live Activities from the list of options.
4. Restart iPhone
If you have reached this step and Live Activities still does not work, you need to restart your device. This could eliminate any issues that may be preventing this feature from working properly.
Point: We recommend using the Force Restart Combo for quick results.
Live Activities not showing up in the Apple TV app?
This feature is currently not available for the stock Apple TV app. Although it worked during the early stages of the iOS 16.1 beta, Apple decided to remove it from the public release.
Most likely this required finer tuning and was delayed for iOS 16.2. You must use Live Activities with third-party apps at this time.
