Movies and TV app freezes, doesn’t work, or doesn’t open

1]Check your settings

To verify that the time, date, language, and region settings on your computer are correct, follow these steps:

  • press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  • Tap or click Time and language.
  • Select either Date and hour or Region & language and check all the settings.

Then check to see if the Movies and TV app issues persist. If so, go to the next solution.

2]Empty Temp folder

To delete the Temp folder on your computer, follow these steps:

  • press the Windows key + R.
  • in the Run dialog box, type temp, then press Enter.
  • Press CTRL + A to select all files and folders.
  • Then press the DELETE key on the keyboard or right-click it, then press or click Remove.
  • If you are notified that certain files or folders are in use, select Jump.

Then check to see if the Movies and TV app issues persist. If so, go to the next solution.

3]Reset the application

Reset this Windows Store app via Windows 10 via Settings and see if it helps.

Open Settings> Applications> Applications and features. Locate the Movies & TV the application, or Movies & TV application, as appropriate.

Select Advanced Options, then click the Reset button.

4]Reset Internet Explorer settings

To reset Internet Explorer settings, follow these steps:

  • Click Start, type IE11 and press Enter to launch Internet Explorer.
  • Click on the gear icon at the top right of the window or press ALT + X.
  • To select internet options in the menu.
  • Click on Advanced tongue.
  • Click on Reset > Reset.
  • Click on close.

You can now exit IE and restart your computer. At startup, check if the problems with the Movies and TV app are resolved. Otherwise, go to the next solution.

5]Restore default libraries

Note: Deleting and recreating libraries does not affect the data in the libraries.

To restore the default libraries on your computer, follow these steps:

If you don’t see Libraries listed, select View at the top of the screen. On the Navigation pane menu, make sure that View all folders is selected.

  • Right-click (or press and hold) each library (documents, images, music, and videos), then press or click Remove.
  • In the left pane, right-click (or press and hold) Libraries, then click Restore default libraries.

This action recreates the libraries. All data in the library folders should now be accessible again via the file explorer.

You can now check if the problems with the Movies and TV app are resolved.
