Now that HMD Global has confirmed its presence at MWC 2020 in Barcelona, we should expect more Nokia leaks from insiders soon. While the flagship may be missing at this year’s event, HMD has a few mediums to keep us all hooked. The first to confirm its presence is the Nokia 5.2, which recently tweeted Evan Blass (@evleaks).
The Nokia 5.2, codenamed Captain America, recently appeared in pictures. The front has a large panel with a U-shaped notch and a considerable amount of chin with the Nokia brand. It runs on Android One software, as standard for Nokia phones these days. What is interesting is the back panel.
Although it may seem plastic (and fingerprint magnet as you can see), HMD has gone mad with the design of its camera. The Nokia 5.2 will have a configuration with four cameras resembling that of the shield of Captain America. The four lenses are arranged in a circular camera housing, with the dual LED flash in the middle. Below is a fingerprint sensor.
Judging by the lenses, it looks like the Nokia 5.2 will have a wide angle lens, a macro lens, and a depth sensor next to the main camera. Although we would like it to have a telephoto lens instead of the otherwise useless macro lens. The usual macro lens has an f / 2.4 aperture with a focusing distance of 4 cm and a 2MP sensor (which is bad). Either way, it will still appeal to mid-range users. It will also be a good upgrade to the dual camera configuration of the Nokia 5.1.
According to Blass, the Nokia 5.2 will have at least 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. This configuration also suggests better SoC, although we don’t know which one yet. But rumor has it that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC will be the driving force behind the device. Other rumors suggest that the smartphone will have a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen and at least 16MP and 8MP cameras. This is probably for the main and wide angle, as we see on the back of the quad-camera setup.
Finally, Nokia 5.2 should be released in March with a price of 180 USD (162EUR, 12, 800 INR). HMD Global will be on stage at MWC 2020 in Barcelona on February 23.
Expected specifications:
- 6.2 inch IPS LCD screen
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC
- 64 GB 6 GB RAM
- Quadricamera (16MP primary, 8MP wide angle, macro and depth sensor)
- Fingerprint sensor
- 3,500mAh battery
- Android One
