India does not have a 5G network at all. It doesn’t stop Realme, for whatever reason. Realme has announced that the launch of Realme X50 Pro 5G will take place in India. Judging by the invitations sent by the company, they even plan to market the 5G aspect of the phone.
Launch of Realme X50 Pro 5G
Realme was originally going to launch the X50 Pro 5G at MWC 2020 but it was canceled. The company has now sent out invitations to members of the media confirming a launch on February 24. The invitation to the Indian media clearly indicates that the launch will be an online event.
Although Realme will host an event in Madrid the same day for a global launch of Realme X50 Pro 5G.
For the online event in India only, the time was mentioned as 2:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. The invitation also mentions New Delhi as the launch location, although it is an online event. The company also markets the phone as “the first 5G smartphone in India”.
Realme CEO Madhav Seth also confirmed the launch of Realme X50 Pro 5G on Twitter.

Specifications Realme X50 Pro 5G
Realme has already confirmed certain specifications for the Realme X50 Pro 5G. On the one hand, it will have the flagship Snapdragon 865 processor, unlike the Poco X2. The screen will be a Super AMOLED panel with refresh rates of 90 Hz. Although the company did not mention the size of the battery, it confirmed a fast charge of 65 W.
The Realme X50 5G, available in China only, had a 120 Hz IPS LCD screen. Instead of the Snapdragon 865, it had the Snapdragon 756G. These confirmed specifications are therefore mainly an upgrade compared to the Realme X50 5G.
Given this, we can make a guess about the storage and RAM options for the Realme X50 pro 5G. The Realme X50 5G had variants of 6 GB and 12 GB of RAM with storage from 128 GB and up to 256 GB. We can expect similar or better specifications for the Reale X50 Pro 5G.
A 5G phone in India?
As you probably know, India does not have a 5G network. Given the state of 4G networks in the country, we can safely say that 5G will not be completely in India soon. The fact that the big telecommunications giants, Airtel and Vodafone are already in debt by the government, the future of 5G in India has not looked very bright for at least a few years.
Therefore, Realme bringing a 5G phone to India and then marketing it on that basis seems… stupid. The only reason I can think of is that they just want the honor of bringing India’s first 5G smartphone. The company may also hope to entice some customers to buy a feature they can’t even use. After all, the cost of a 5G phone is significantly higher than that of a 4G phone.
At least the phone will still work on 4G networks.
