Twitter: How to Turn Off DMs

In this article, we will explain how to disable DMs (direct messages) on Twitter.

Twitter doesn’t provide a way to stop everyone’s DMs. However, it has a feature to stop DMs from people you don’t follow.

  1. Log in to your Twitter account or open the app.
  2. Desktop browser users select After ⋯. Users of the Twitter application select your profile picture located in the upper right part of the screen.
  3. Select Settings & Privacy > Privacy & Security > Direct Messages.
  4. Uncheck the Allow message requests from everyone box.

You will still be able to receive DMs from people who follow you.
