3 Easy Tricks to Convert a PNG Screenshot to JPG in Windows 10

If you often take screenshots on your PC, you will agree that this is really a nice feature. Press the Windows & Print Screen (PrtSc) buttons on your keyboard to save an image of your current screen to your computer. However, Windows automatically saves screenshots in the default PNG format. So, how would you convert PNG screen captures to JPG?

1. Convert Using Microsoft Paint

In addition to using Microsoft Paint to edit images, the software could also be used to record screenshots in JPG format and other formats.

Step 1: Capture your screen using the Windows + PrtSc shortcut.

2nd step: Type To paint in the search box and launch the Microsoft Paint application.

Step 3: Paste the image immediately into Paint using the Ctrl + V keyboard shortcut or by pressing the Paste icon in the upper left corner of the application.

Did you know: When you take a snapshot of your PC's screen using the Windows + PrtSc shortcut, Windows also places a copy of the screen capture on the Windows Clipboard.

Step 4: The screen capture that you captured will be pasted into Paint from the Windows Clipboard. You can then proceed with the recording in JPG format.

Step 5: Press the Ctrl + S shortcut on your keyboard to save the screen capture.

Step 6: Click the drop-down next to the "Save As Type" option and select JPEG (JPG).

Step 7: You can rename the screen capture and also select the location where you want to save it. Then click the Save button.

You can also click File on the Paint Ribbon menu and select Save As. Paint will provide a list of available formats for recording your screen capture. Select the JPEG image and save the screen capture.

3. Convert using online tools

Well, it's the last alternative if you have a large number of PNG screen captures. You can use online tools to convert a PNG screen capture to a JPG image. It would also be useful if you do not have the time to take care of converting images individually. You can simply go online, download your PNG screenshot and download it in JPG format.

EZGIF is another popular online image converter that supports converting PNG files to JPG format.

This tool is also easy to use and converts your files in seconds. The maximum size of a file that you can convert using this website is however set at 35 MB.

SodaPDF is generally known as an online PDF platform, but it also offers useful image conversion tools. One advantage of SodaPDF over other PNG-JPG converters is that it also allows you to download image files from cloud storage services such as Google Drive and Dropbox.

Here are two of the simplest ways to save your screenshots in JPG format on a Windows 10 computer. You can also use these methods to convert a PNG screen capture to a JPG screen capture.
