How to Change Name in Zoom on Mobile, iPad, and PC

When we receive a Zoom meeting link, we click on it without verifying our account. Imagine joining your office meeting on Zoom with your child’s account logged in. It sounds funny, but it can get awkward with formal meetings. To easily resolve such a blunder, you can change the name of your Zoom without leaving the meeting. How to change profile name in Zoom on PC

You can change your name before joining a Zoom meeting or during a meeting. Let’s check the different ways.

Method 1: Change the zoom name for all meetings

To change your name for all meetings, follow these steps:

Step 1: Launch the Zoom application on your computer.

2nd step: Click on the profile picture icon at the top. Select My Profile from the menu. A web page will open and take you to the Zoom account settings. Log in with your Zoom account details.

Point: If you don’t see My Profile, go to Settings> Profile> Edit Profile.

Step 3: In the Personal section of the left sidebar in the Zoom account settings, go to Profile. Click the Edit button next to your name and enter a new name. Save the changes using the Save button.

Note: The name will be changed for the current meeting only using the following two methods.

Method 2: Change the zoom name before joining a meeting

Without clicking the Zoom meeting link, open the Zoom app and click the Join button.

The Join Meeting dialog box opens. You will get two boxes. The first is to fill in the meeting ID and the second is to enter the display name. Enter your name in the second box. You will need to manually enter the meeting ID.

Pro tip: If this method fails, log out of the Zoom app, then click the Join button.

Method 3: Change the zoom name during a meeting

If you want to change your name after joining a meeting, you don’t need to disconnect the call to change your name. Just click on the Participants icon on the meeting screen.

A sidebar will open. Hover your mouse over your name and click More. Then choose Rename. Enter a new name.

How to change the name in Zoom on Android, iPhone and iPad

Like a computer, the zoom name on mobile devices can be changed before or during a meeting. Here are different ways to do this.

Method 1: Change the name of the mobile zoom for all meetings

To change the name of all meetings before joining a meeting, follow these steps:

Step 1: Launch the Zoom app. Tap Settings at the bottom. Tap your name at the top.

2nd step: Touch Display name and edit the name on the next screen.

Method 2: change the zoom name on mobile before joining the meeting

To change your name for only one meeting, tap the Join button on the Zoom app home screen. Enter your name in the Name box.

Method 3: Change the zoom name during the meeting

Step 1: After joining a meeting, tap the Participants tab at the bottom of the Zoom app.

2nd step: Tap your name and choose Rename from the menu.

Bonus tip 1: How to change participant name in zoom

You can change someone else’s name in the Zoom meeting if you are the host. To do this on PC, join a meeting. Click the Participants tab, then click the participant’s name. Tap the More button, then tap Rename. Or, right-click on the participant’s video and choose Rename.

Bonus tip 2: prevent participants from renaming themselves

Many people, especially children, keep changing names during Zoom meetings. If this bothers you as the host, you can prevent attendees from renaming themselves in your meetings. To do this, open the Zoom account settings from us04web.zoom.us/profile/setting. Go to settings in the left panel. Then click on In a meeting (Basic).

Scroll down and turn off the switch next to the “Allow participants to rename themselves” option.

Correction: impossible to change the name of the zoom

If you cannot change your display name on Zoom using the methods above, you must change it directly from the Zoom website. To do this, open the Zoom account settings from us04web.zoom.us/profile. Log in with your Zoom account. Click Profile in the left sidebar. Then click on Edit next to your name and add a new name.
