Microsoft Edge Browser is based on the open-source Chromium project. This will give you more Chrome experience than anything else. This means that almost all the experimental features of Chrome enabled via indicators could also be enabled here. Apart from that, you can easily use all Chrome extensions on the Edge browser.
The usual Edge features, Microsoft themes, and the extension store are also available. All of the Chrome shortcuts, such as Ctrl + Shift + N for Incognito Mode, Ctrl + Shift + B for the Favorites Bar and countless others also work very well in the Edge Browser. In short, you get a double experience of Microsoft Edge and the Chrome browser.
Microsoft Edge Chromium browser
Currently, there are three different versions of the Microsft Edge browser based on Chromium. These are:
- Canarian version: The least stable among the three versions. This version receives daily updates from Microsoft. You will be among the first to try out all the advanced features. Depending on your comments, features may or may not be included in stable versions. If you could exchange stability with new features, try it.
- Dev version: Generally more stable than the old, but some problems can appear here and there. This version receives new updates every week. A balance between features and stability exists in this version, with no score too high or too low.
- Stable Beta: The most stable version among the three. Any new feature first undergoes rigorous testing in the Canary and Dev versions. And if all goes well, the features are found in this version of the Microsft Edge browser based on Chromium. This version receives updates every six weeks.

All three versions are available for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Server (as of 2016), Windows Server (2008 R2 through 2012 R2) and macOS.

Import bookmarks, extensions, and settings from Chrome
Once you have downloaded the desired version of the Microsoft Edge browser based on Chromium, open the .exe file. Then you will be taken to the "Configure the browser with your data" section. Under this, select Import from Google Chrome. below, you will see your Google profile from which the data will be imported. If you need to edit the same thing, click More Import Options. Once done, click Next and continue the installation process following the instructions.
Open now the Microsoft Edge browser based on Chromium, click on the three horizontal dots. Select Extensions from the drop-down menu. You will see all your extensions here. But only those available on the Microsoft Store will be enabled by default. To activate others, simply switch to the switch next to Allow extensions from other sources. Finally, click Allow in the confirmation dialog box that appears. If you want to import bookmarks or the bookmarks bar, click on the three horizontal dots and select the Favorites option. Then click Import.
