The Asus ROG phone looked like a gaming phone through. Asus is back with the Asus ROG Phone 2 which has improved a lot compared to last year. It also has some brand new wallpapers. Asus ROG Phone 2

The Asus ROG Phone 2 will cost 900 euros, which equates to around a thousand dollars. It's really pushing the limit here. But what do you get for so much money?

Design

The Asus ROG Phone 2 opts for a completely glass construction, which finally gives it the trend of the glossy glass phone market. The back of the device is also much cleaner with less accents. The fan grille actually allows to ventilate this time instead of being a centerpiece. The LED illuminated ROG logo is always on the back and it can be customized to change the colors with the help of an application on the phone.

The device has a dual horizontally aligned camera configuration that is not much different than the original ROG phone. There is also a dual LED flash right next to the camera module. There is no fingerprint scanner on the back, Asus having opted for an integrated fingerprint scanner. The glasses on the front are much smaller but still there. According to Asus, the glasses are needed to provide a better grip, but I never had a problem with the grip of OnePlus 7 Pro.

The frames also feature a configuration of two front stereo speakers.

Characteristics

As you would with a gaming smartphone, the ROG phone features premium features with a Snapdragon 855 plus. For those who are not in the loop, Snapdragon 855 Plus is a tweaked version of the Snapdragon 855 which should, in theory, offer better gaming performance. Any difference in the actual experience may not be as noticeable as the suggest marketing materials.

It has a Full HD AMOLED + 120Hz display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 px. The refresh rate is higher than last year's model that had a 90Hz display. In any case, most Android games do not use anything above 60 Hz, so it will not really make a big difference to the game. Unless you play games that support rates higher refresh rates.

The same can be said of HDR playback, which is good for videos but does not affect much the games. The ROG phone supports it anyway. The 8 GB RAM of the previous model has been increased to 12 GB with the ROG Phone 2. This is ample for all the games you play and a bit exaggerated, but this is where we are now. Similarly, the built-in storage space has increased from 128 GB to 256 GB on the base model. There is also a variant with 512 GB of space.

The phone has a very large 6000mAh battery which is quite impressive. Even considering the thickness of the phone, the fact that Asus has managed to do it is impressive. It's the biggest battery of a classic smartphone we've seen. It supports fast charging at 30W (fast charge 4.0) with reverse charge capability at 10W as well.

Camera

At the front, a standard 24MP f / 2.2 camera is a nice upgrade from last year's 8MP model. The dual camera at the back includes a 48 MP, f / 1.8, 26mm (wide) sensor and an ultra-wide 13 MP, f / 2.4, 11mm sensor.

Although Asus has dramatically improved camera specifications, both front and back, you can expect the camera to still fall short of it. from that of the phones at similar price. Even a 400 dollar phone like the Pixel 3a could easily beat the Asus ROG Phone 2 camera, but that's not why you buy it.
