LG has refreshed its G8 smartphone with slightly different specifications and a new hardware accessory. Nicknamed G8X, LG's new device takes the dual-screen to another level. More on that later. Double foldable!
LG chose Sony to release a model upgrade. The LG G8 was announced in April and we have today the G8X announced in September. The LG G8X comes with a new 6.4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The format of the screen is 19.5: 9.
The SoC used here is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 coupled to the Adreno 640 graphics processor. As far as RAM is concerned, you just have a 6GB multi-tasking energy option. Similarly, you only have 128GB of internal memory. A MicroSD card slot is present. In addition, a 3.5mm audio jack is equipped in the LG G8X.
Biometric authentication is here in the form of your fingerprint. The fingerprint sensor is located under the OLED panel.
The LG G8X debuts with a new accessory called DualScreen, which allows it to have a second screen (and also a third) and operate at the same time as a foldable device, which is cool. This is a tilting case that contains a 6.4 "OLED display and a 2.1" monochrome OLED display on the other side.
Double camera
The LG G8X is equipped with a two camera system. A 12MP primary unit (OIS, PDAF) is here with a 13MP ultra-wide angle cam. Videos are shot at a maximum resolution of 4K at 60 frames per second. Upstream, there is a 32 MP camera capable of recording videos at 4K at only 30 frames per second.
Battery, Android and colors
A rather disappointing 4000mAh battery is inside the LG G8X. Seriously, LG, a power supply of 4 k mAh is enough to the hardware configuration of the G8X? However, Qualcomm QC 4.0 is there to compensate for this at a minimum. LG UX 9.0 based on Android 9.0 uses the LG G8X. When it comes to colors, you only have one color called New Aurora Black.
