8 Best Tips to Fix Spotify Web Player Black Screen Issue

Nobody hates black despite being darker. That goes with everything. The only time we fear black is when it’s about displaying something on a screen. This is because it always means problems. If you get a black screen on Spotify Web Player, this is the right place to know how to fix it.

Web applications are great. They are independent of browsers and platforms because they work everywhere without it being necessary to install anything else. Spotify, in addition to having a desktop application, also has an amazing web player. But it does not work sometimes.

For many users, Spotify Web Player stops working or displays a black screen as soon as it opens. If you also have the same problem, follow the tips below to solve it.

Let’s start the troubleshooting process.

1. Restart the browser

Since the problem is in the browser, you should start by closing it. Sometimes a simple reboot will solve the problem. If restarting the browser does not help, restart your device as well.

2. Log in

If the black screen appears when you try to play a song or add a song to a playlist, you must check whether you are connected to Spotify or not. If this is not the case, connect instantly.

3. Play the next song

Step 1: Open Spotify Web Player in your browser. Then open the Spotify app on your mobile or PC.

Note: Make sure to be connected with the same accounts.

Step 4: The song will start playing on your PC. Refresh the Spotify page on your PC and that’s it. The black screen will disappear.

The problem occurs because Spotify fails to load the last song played. By playing a song on other platforms, things are correcting.

4. Clear browser cache and cookies

Clearing the browser cache and cookies is also a useful way to solve the problem of the black screen on Spotify. We will explain the steps to follow for the Chrome browser here.

Step 1: Launch the Chrome browser and click on the three point icon at the top. Go to settings. Alternatively, you can type chrome: // parameters in the address bar to quickly load the settings.

2nd step: Scroll through the settings and click Advanced.

Step 5: Restart your PC.

If you also use Spotify via a browser on your mobile, we also suggest you clear the cache and cookies on the mobile browser.

5. Disable Extensions

Sometimes an extension may also be causing Spotify to malfunction on the web player. To find it, you will need to disable your browser extensions one by one. Once disabled, restart your browser and play a song on the Spotify web player. Repeat this for each extension to find the culprit.

6. Check ad blockers

If you’re using an ad blocker, try to disable it for a while. Restart the browser and try to play a song. If the problem is resolved, your ad blocker hampers the use of Spotify. This does not mean that you will have to keep it disabled. What you can do is add the Spotify website to the ad blocker whitelist. Open the ad blocker settings and you will find the whitelist option.

7. Disable hardware acceleration

Follow these steps to disable hardware acceleration in Chrome:

Step 1: Open the Chrome settings from the three-dot icon. Alternatively, you can type chrome: // parameters in the address bar.

2nd step: Click Advanced to reveal more settings.
