How to Blur a Part of Picture in Paint 3D

Sometimes you will want to blur part of a photo to hide the details. While powerful image editing tools are capable of doing the same, choosing the best one for your needs and comfort can be a challenge. Fortunately, Microsoft has made the new Paint 3D capable enough to allow you to blur part of an image on your Windows desktop or laptop computer. Sure, it’s a little tricky, and that’s why we’re here to help.

That said, Paint 3D, similar to its brother MS Paint, does not offer a dedicated blur option. The process is therefore not simple, but there are a few solutions. You can use Paint 3D to blur screenshots, additional objects, and even the background.

Let’s check out the different methods for pixelating or blurring part of a photo in Paint 3D on Windows 10.

Method 1: blur with the selection tool

In this method, you need to select the area you want to blur. Then you need to reduce its size as small as possible. Once this happens, increase the size again to fit the original area. The selected part of the photo will be blurred.

Here are the steps in detail:

Step 1: Launch the Paint 3D application on your Windows 10 PC and open the image.

2nd step: Click the Select tool present on the Brushes tab.

Step 3: Select the portion you want to blur. For example, in the following image, I want to blur the toy.

Step 4: Using the lower right corner of the selection, drag the selection area inward to reduce its size. Make it very small. But keep in mind that it should be just enough to be able to resize it again.

Now, instead of decreasing the size, increase its size using the lower right corner so that it fits the white area.

Note: You may experience problems at first. But after trying it several times, you will feel comfortable blurring the images in Paint 3D. Of course, this method does not lead to one of the most neat outings. But the images must be good enough to be shared on social networks or messaging apps.

Method 2: cover with a similar area

In this method, we will blur the part of the image with the pixels of the neighboring area. The advantage of this method is that the final image seems less edited (or sticky) compared to the previous method. If you do it carefully, you can easily remove objects and text from your image.

Here are the steps for the same:

Step 1: Open your image in the Paint 3D application.

2nd step: Select a small part to the right or left near the area you want to blur or hide using the Select tool. For example, in the following screenshot, I want to hide the text “M Voda added you”. I will select the correct area.

A cautious point

If you want to blur a lot of images, we suggest you download an image editing tool that offers a dedicated button for it. It’s pretty simple that way. You can try free tools like PhotoScape, GIMP, PicsArt, etc. For single or occasional use, 3D painting should serve you perfectly.
