How to Declutter Your Spotify Desktop App

How to Declutter Your Spotify Desktop App

Spotify is one of the best audio streaming services for discovering new music, following your favorite artists, and subscribing to podcasts. In this process, your Spotify desktop view will look messy and won’t show your favorite artists or genres. You can declutter this mess to let Spotify recommend several new songs and artists per day.

New artists and song recommendations are welcome, but sometimes Spotify accepts them. So it’s a good idea to empty the plate and start over. Unfortunately, Spotify doesn’t offer this one-click refresh button. So you will have to follow a bunch of things. Here’s how to get started.

1. Delete the songs you like

When a new song on Spotify catches your eye, appreciating it is understandable. After all, no one likes to forget the name of a song they liked – only to never hear it again.

At the same time, liking a lot of songs can quickly clutter up your Spotify app. Often times, users are no longer different from the song after losing interest. So you can either delete songs that you once liked but no longer listen to, or resist the temptation to like every new song that you might enjoy. And this is easy; you just need to follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Spotify desktop app.

2nd step: Go to Songs You Like in the left sidebar.

Step 3: Tap the heart icon next to the song. Spotify will then remove it from your library.

You can track regularly to keep your library slim and find the best leads more easily. Another workaround is to create a playlist and add the songs you like temporarily. Later, you can remove them from playlists. It sounds a lot better than loving the songs.

2. Delete playlists you don’t listen to

For many people, their playlists are the soundtrack of their day. They have it for commuting, going to the gym, working out and everything in between. And as users, we like to debate which Spotify or Apple Music is the best streaming service for reasons like this.

However, you will often find that you only listen to a few. As such, you might have dozens, if not hundreds, of playlists taking up unnecessary space.

It’s a good idea to go through your playlists frequently and delete the ones you haven’t listened to for a while. To do so, follow these steps.

Step 1: Open the Spotify app.

2nd step: Scroll down the left sidebar to Playlists.

Step 3: Right click on the playlist you want to delete; if you are using a Mac, press ctrl and your mouse.

Step 4: Choose Remove from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Confirm that you want to delete the playlist.

If you change your mind, you can recover deleted playlists in Spotify web app.

3. Unsubscribe from artists and users with whom you do not interact

Following artists and users on Spotify is a great way to follow your favorite bands and singers. It’s also useful for tracking the career development of emerging artists you want to succeed.

But like on social media, not everyone is worth following forever. And it’s a good idea to regularly check your following list to get rid of any artists or users you no longer interact with.

If you want to stop tracking accounts on Spotify, the steps below are for you.

Step 1: On the Spotify desktop app, go to your profile.

Step 3: When Follow changes to Stop Following, click on it and you will stop following the user.

4. Unsubscribe from podcasts you don’t listen to

Podcasts are great for learning on the go, especially when you download them and listen to Spotify content offline. The platform also has a great selection for almost any interest. But as with music, we’ll often start listening to one and stop shortly after.

Unsubscribing from podcasts you don’t listen to is useful for cleaning up your Spotify interface. To do this, follow the following steps.

Step 1: On the Spotify app, click Podcasts in the left sidebar.

2nd step: You will now see a catalog of the podcasts that you are following. Scroll down until you find one that you no longer want to follow.

Step 3: Click the Follow button to stop following it.

Step 4: Select Stop Tracking. Alternatively, you can click on the heart on the left.

Keep Your Spotify App Clean With These Tips

Spotify is great for discovering new music and learning resources in almost any language. But at the same time, the application requires our constant attention, so that it does not get cluttered.

It’s easy to find new content on the platform, and luckily it’s also easy to split up once you’re no longer interested in a song, album, or podcast. Once you’ve tried these tips, you’ll have a more streamlined Spotify profile. And thanks to it, it will be much easier to follow the sounds you like.
