Enable / disable synchronization for the SharePoint document library

There are two main ways to disable synchronization for the SharePoint document library:

  1. At the library level
  2. At the site level

We will see the process in detail.

The SharePoint Document Library provides a secure location for storing files where users and their colleagues can easily locate, work with and, if needed, access them from any device at any time.

For example, SharePoint service users can use a document library on a SharePoint Online site to store all files related to a specific task. They can add files or move them from one folder to another by simply performing the drag and drop operation.

1) Enable or disable synchronization for the SharePoint document library at the library level

Go to the desired library, click on 'Library & #39; and choose 'Library Settings'From the Settings group.

Then, from the "General Settings" window that appears, click "Settings".Advanced settings& #39; link.

Enable / disable synchronization for the SharePoint document library

Now scroll down until you find 'Offline client availabilityThe section has the following description – "Allow uploading items from this document library to offline clients"

Depending on your needs, simply check the 'Yes' or 'No' circle next to the option.

2) Enable or disable synchronization for the SharePoint document library at the site level

The method described above enables / disables SharePoint synchronization in the particular library where you just changed the settings. Therefore, if your site supports multiple document libraries, you will need to repeat the above steps individually for all document libraries. However, there is a shortcut to this. Find it below!

If you are a site administrator, go to 'SettingsAgain, choose "Site Settings".

There, locate 'Offline search and availability(It is visible under "Search& #39; section).

Scroll up to 'Offline client availability& #39; (Indicate whether this site should be available to offline customers.) section.

Enable / disable synchronization for the SharePoint document library by checking the "yes" or "no" circles, just below "Allow downloading items from this site to offline clients".
