The Windows Club

In today’s post, we will identify some known potential causes that could trigger the video streaming service Amazon Prime error codes 1060 and 9074, as well as providing possible solutions, you can try to help resolve the issue with regard to the two error codes mentioned above.

Amazon Prime Video error code 1060

Due to the network inconsistency, you may receive the following error message when trying to access Amazon Prime on Windows 10 or any other streaming device:

Make sure your device is connected to the Internet, then select Retry. If the connection works, but you still see this message, restart the application or contact Amazon Customer Service at amazon.com/vldeohelp. Error code: 1060

If you are faced with Amazon Prime Video error code 1060, you can try our recommended solutions below in no particular order and see if that helps solve the problem.

  1. Restart or reset your router / modem
  2. Switch to Ethernet (wired) connection (if applicable)
  3. Check that you meet the minimum bandwidth requirements
  4. Remove the proxy server or uninstall the VPN client (if applicable)

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved in relation to each of the solutions listed.

1]Restart or reset your router / modem

There may be a configuration problem with the Internet modem / router you are using. In this case, you can most likely fix the problem by restarting or resetting your network device (modem or router).

To reboot the router / modem, simply use the On off button twice. Press once to turn off the device, then wait at least 30 seconds before pressing the button again. This will ensure that the power capacitors are drained.

You can do the same by disconnecting the power from your Internet device. Then wait at least 5 minutes and plug in the modem router and wait for the connectivity light to start flashing.

If the Amazon Prime Video error code 1060 persists, you will need to reset the router. But keep in mind that this will reset your custom login information (from your router’s page) and any custom network settings you have established.

To reset on your network device, use a pointed object (such as a toothpick or needle) to reach the reset button on the back of your router or modem. Press and hold it for at least 10 seconds – or until you see that all of the front LEDs start flashing at the same time.

After the reset operation is complete, try to stream content to Amazon Prime. If the problem is still not resolved, go to the next solution.

2]Switch to Ethernet (wired) connection (if applicable)

It is known that Amazon Prime is the most demanding bandwidth streaming service (especially on Smart TVs). Due to the fact that it is still trying to force HD playback (even on limited bandwidth) on Smart TVs, you can expect to see error code 1060 when connected to a Wi-Fi network with a limited signal. You may well see the error because your network is not strong enough to provide HD quality streaming.

In this case, one way to resolve the problem is to switch to an Ethernet (wired) connection. Also (if a cable is not an option), you should consider getting a Wi-Fi extender to make sure you have enough signal to support HD playback.

If the problem is still not resolved, you can continue to the next solution.

3]Check that you meet the minimum bandwidth requirements

Even if Amazon Prime only requires 900 Kbps to broadcast, this only applies to small screens (Android, iOS) and desktop computers (PC, Mac). However, if you’re trying to stream Amazon Prime from a Smart TV (or using Chromecast, Roku, etc.), the bandwidth required is 3.5 Mbps.

If you have a limited plan, your current ISP may not provide you with enough bandwidth to use this service. In this case, you can run a test speed of your Internet connection to see if you meet the minimum bandwidth requirements on your device.

4]Remove the proxy server or uninstall the VPN client (if applicable)

Similar to Netflix, HBO Go and DisneyPlus, Amazon Prime is becoming much more proactive in preventing VPN and proxy users from streaming content.

Users report that Amazon Prime can detect if you are using a proxy server and that it is also capable of detecting a wide selection of VPN clients. This could be the cause of the Amazon Prime video error.

So, if you are using a proxy server or VPN client and have previously confirmed that you have enough bandwidth to stream from this service, you can try uninstalling your VPN software through the Windows Programs and Features applet. 10 or remove any proxy server from your computer and see if that fixes the problem.
