Apple Fitness + on MacBook Air

In macOS Monterey, you can finally get Apple Fitness + on Mac! This is a highly anticipated option, as it allows Fitness + subscribers, who do not have an Apple TV, to watch premium workouts on a bigger screen and thus have a better experience during training!

Apple Fitness + on Mac: Disadvantage

Unfortunately, Fitness + is still not natively supported by macOS. There is no Fitness Plus app available in the Mac App Store. But thanks to the new macOS Monterey AirPlay to Mac feature, you can use this workaround to stream Apple Fitness + workouts on Mac!
Apple Fitness + on Mac no training measures

AirPlaying Fitness + workouts from your iPhone or iPad to macOS 12 come with one limitation: your heart rate, calories burned, and more training measurements on the screen are not displayed on the screen of the MacBook or iMac. However, they are available on your Apple Watch and you can easily glance at them by raising your wrist.

How to stream Apple Fitness + on Mac

  • Open the Aptitude app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Press the Fitness + tab, in the bottom menu.
  • Choose a training and start it.
  • Use the AirPlay option, to wirelessly stream video and audio content to your Mac.
  • Select your MacBook, or depending on your Mac computer, in the AirPlay list. Enjoy the workout!

System requirements for AirPlay to Mac

macOS Monterey lets you stream content from iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices to Mac. However, not all macOS 12 compatible computers benefit from this new AirPlay feature. Below is a list of AirPlay compatible Macs:

  • Mac Pro (2019)
  • Mac mini (2020 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • iMac (2019 and later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2018 and later)

Important: macOS Monterey is currently in its early stages of beta testing. Airplay Apple Fitness + workouts on Mac aren’t perfect right now, but I’m sure this will be a reliable feature in the public version of macOS 12. macOS Monterey is due out this fall!
