The backup hierarchy in SharePoint allows a user to view and restore a version if it was accidentally deleted. So in this article, we will see the method to recover an old version in SharePoint library.
Says the blog on Office.com:
SharePoint does not delete the previous version you just restored, it creates a copy and makes the latest version. If your SharePoint lists or libraries are set to track versions, you can roll back to a previous version of a list item or a file.
Restore version of deleted document in SharePoint library
If a document in the library or SharePoint list is accidentally deleted, the action can be reversed. However, for the process to work, you must have your SharePoint lists or libraries defined to track versions. It is only when this is done, that you can restore a previous version of a list item or a file. To restore an earlier version of the file in SharePoint, accidentally deleted,
- Access the SharePoint library
- Go to the Version history section
- Restore the desired version
Version history is enabled by default in SharePoint, but if you don't see the Version History command, version history can be disabled.
1) Access the SharePoint library
Go to the SharePoint quick launch bar and open the list or library.
