How to remove User Name from Office 365 Title Bar
As an Office 365 user, you have the power to personalize the appearance and settings of its applications to suit your unique preferences. For instance, you can easily remove your username from the title bar in Office 365 applications. Allow me to walk you through the simple steps required to achieve this customization.
Remove username from Office 365 title bar
Office 365 is designed to work with a Microsoft account, so you must have a Microsoft account. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to create one. Once you’re done, the name you used for your Microsoft account will be visible under the title bar for all Office 365 apps. If you’re not inclined to see it, you can delete the name via a simple registry hack. For that:
- Open the Registry Editor
- Go to the Office registry key
- Locate the identity key
- Clear the value data for FriendlyName DWORD.
- Restart the PC.
There is no other way to remove it, so we have to change the registry settings. Please note that serious changes may occur if you make incorrect changes to the Registry Editor. Before proceeding, create a backup of your system.
Press Win + R in combination to open the “Run” dialog box.
Type “regedit.exe»In the empty field of the box that appears and press the Enter key.
Once done, go to the following registry configuration key –
ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice16.0CommonIdentityIdentities
There will be several subfolders visible below. Click on each subfolder to open it and see if you can find an entry with the following name in the right pane: “Family name.”
Once seen, double click on the entry. You’ll notice that the name visible in the title bar of Office 365 apps appears under “Edit channel& #39; box.
To remove or clear the username from the title bar of Office 365 apps, simply remove the name from the box.
Close the Registry Editor and exit.
Below, you should no longer see the user name under the title bar of Office applications.
