How to View All Websites You Have Visited on Instagram

Sharing links on Instagram is different from other social media platforms. This is because Instagram is primarily for sharing images and over the years it has allowed flexibility in sharing links to some extent. Users love to share links to their product pages, petitions, causes, and blogs. While you can browse hundreds of such stores and sites on Instagram, you won’t be able to remember them if you need to suggest one to a friend or colleague.

Fortunately, Instagram made sense to include a way to rediscover these websites or links in your profile for later reading. Now you can view all the websites you have opened on Instagram in one place. Let’s find out how to use the official Instagram apps for Android and iOS. It will not work on Instagram web app.

This does not mean that the desktop or the web application is completely redundant. You can still check your DMs or view Instagram stories. Although that said it all, putting links in comments or an Instagram post is still a tricky business. You will need at least 10,000 users to post a link in your Instagram Stories. Keeping that aside, let’s see how to display all of the links you’ve visited so far.

View and delete visited websites on Instagram Android

Step 1: Open the Instagram app and tap your profile icon at the bottom right of the screen. Now select the menu icon at the top right.

The Time tab will tell you how much time you spent on Instagram mindlessly scrolling through your feeds. Just be careful, this can be shocking for some!

There is no search button here. You can scroll down and tap any URL to open the link again. The links are organized by date, starting with the most recent and opened in Instagram’s in-app browser with no way to open them directly in your favorite browser.

The Hide History button will actually remove the links instead. You might find this misleading, but there is a reason behind it. Instagram means these links will be removed for you but will remain in their archive in accordance with their data policy. You will receive a warning from Facebook telling you that the information will always be used to “improve your experience”. Show relevant ads and content.

To hide / remove individual links that you don’t need or want someone else to see, press and hold on the individual link in question. You will be greeted with the same pop-up as above.

View and delete visited websites on Instagram iOS

There’s a slight difference between the way things work on Instagram’s iOS app, but that’s only because of the UI elements and Apple’s design policy.

Step 1: Tap the profile icon on the bottom bar and select the menu icon at the top.

2nd step: This will reveal a pop-up from the bottom of the screen where you will tap on your activity. You will find all of your visited links and opened websites under the Links tab.

All links will be organized by date and time, starting with the one you last visited. There’s no way to search, and like Android, all links will open in Instagram’s in-app browser.

We have already explained how to hide links is not the same as the name suggests. This will remove the links on your end and there is no way to get them back. The links will be saved on the servers of Facebook (Instagram’s parent company) and will be used to deliver better content and advertisements.

Hit the Hide Links button to remove all links, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that. You will lose all link history. Instead, swipe the link you want to remove from right to left to find the Hide button. Either way, you’ll be greeted with a pop-up that explains what happens when you hide the link (s) with a link to the app’s data policy. Most people don’t read ToS and the like before using an app, but they should.

Insta gratuity

Now you know how to view all the websites you have visited on Instagram. And that’s one of the reasons Instagram is so addicting. Instagram is still not very suitable for sharing links compared to Facebook and Twitter. Mainly because Instagram always promotes images and short videos as a way to share content with others. Having said that, I have seen many athletes, beauty experts, celebrities, and influencers post links to their products for fans on Instagram profiles.

You don’t have to open the links in a separate application. Instagram will do this for you so you can come back and check them out later.
