Microsoft Outlook Settings - The Windows Club

By registering for a Outlook.com email account, there are some settings you may want to consider to personalize your experience. For your account to work effectively, it is essential to configure and change some settings to meet your needs.

Personalize and personalize your Outlook.com experience

Once logged in for the first time, customization options will be offered. You will see 6 steps or parameters to complete under 'To start"Title. For your better understanding, I have highlighted these tabs in yellow.

The customization options you will see are:

  1. Choose your look
  2. Confirm timezone
  3. Import Contacts
  4. Send a message
  5. Get Outlook Mobile
  6. Upgrade to Office 365

Let's examine them now in detail.

1. Choose your look

  • Select a theme for your choice.
  • Enable or disable the dark mode.
  • Choose the layout preference – Three columns or one line.
  • Choose the display density – Full, Medium or Compact.

Once you have selected your option, click Done.

2. Confirm the time zone

General:

  • Language and time – Select the appropriate language, date format, and time format from the drop-down list.

  • Appearance – You can choose a theme of your choice for your account. You can also enable or disable the dark mode.

  • Notifications – Choose the notifications embedded in the application and the notifications from the office accordingly.

  • Categories – Categorize your email and calendar to help you organize and track messages and events related to a project, task, or person. You can create new categories and give them names and colors.

  • Accessibility – You can choose the version of the shortcuts you want to use or disable them. I chose "Outlook" for me. You can also check or uncheck the box under "Adjust synchronization".

  • Mobile devices – You can add a new device and set it up to sync with your account. You can also delete a mobile device, access your device's recovery password, launch a remote device clean, or block your phone if you lose it.

  • Confidentiality and data – You can export your mailbox to obtain a copy, delete or download your search history and protect your data by loading external images via the Outlook service.

You'll find settings related to page layout, composition and response, attachments, message management and forwarding, auto replies and subscriptions, and more.

Browse through all the options to set the details regarding the height of the message, where you want to have the reading pane, e-mail signature, message format, storage accounts and sharing preferences, the junk mail, the way you want to customize your most frequently used actions and a lot more such settings.

Calendar:

It is possible to customize the appearance of the calendar, to choose the temperature scale to use to display the weather, to share a calendar with other people, to publish a calendar and to share a link with other people, and also customize the actions.

People:

You can decide how you want to view your contacts. You can choose to view your contacts by first name or last name.

3. Import contacts

4. Send a message

You can send an e-mail to your contacts to update them with your new e-mail address.

5. Get Outlook Mobile

You can download the Outlook application for free on your mobile device by simply entering your mobile number, choosing the country / region, then finally clicking Send a link.
