Top 13 Ways to Fix Google Play Store White Screen Problem
Google Play Store is probably one of the most active Google apps on Android phones. But, like other apps, it is prone to problems. While some users get errors like waiting for the download, others can’t even see the list of apps. When they open the Play Store, they only see a blank white screen.
As expected, we cannot download or update apps from the Play Store due to the blank screen issue. Closing the application does not solve the problem. So what is the solution? Do you need to reset your device to factory settings? No. You don’t have to take such drastic action.
Let’s see different easy ways to fix the blank screen issue in the Google Play Store.
1. Restart
Before trying other solutions, you need to restart your phone first. If you’re using Wi-Fi to download apps from the Play Store, also restart your router. Then open the Play Store. Hopefully the blank screen will disappear and you will be greeted by the normal Play Store.
2. Check the data and time
Many times the problem occurs due to an incorrect time on your phone. So check the date and time. To do this, go to Settings> System or General management. Then tap Data and time. Set the correct time. You can even activate the automatic date and time for best results.
3. Activate airplane mode
Turning on Airplane mode will disable all kinds of network connections on your phone. This will resolve any network issues that might be responsible for not loading the Play Store, and therefore show you a blank screen.
To activate airplane mode, open Settings and go to Network and Internet (or Connections). Activate airplane mode. Wait a minute. Then turn it off and open the Play Store. You can also turn Airplane mode on and off from Quick Settings in the notification panel.
4. Change network connection
You should try to open the Play Store on another network. For example, if you are using Wi-Fi, switch to another Wi-Fi connection or to mobile data, and vice versa.
5. Authorize the use of data on mobile data
Sometimes Play Store and other related apps are not allowed to download apps or updates to mobile data. This could be the reason for the blank screen on the Play Store.
To correct it, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Apps & Notifications or Installed Apps.
2nd step: Under All apps, tap Google Play Store.
Step 3: Tap Mobile data and Wi-Fi (or Data usage). Turn on the toggle next to Allow use of background data.
Step 4: Repeat the steps for Google Play services and the preinstalled file or file management application on your phone. Restart your phone.

6. Disable VPN
Do you use a VPN on your phone? Turn it off, then try opening the Play Store. Sometimes VPN and proxy networks also interfere with the Play Store.
7. Clear the cache and data
One of the best fixes that can fix most of the issues related to the Google Play Store is to clear its cache and data. Start by clearing the cache first and see if the problem is resolved. If this continues, clear the data for Play Store. Don’t worry, erasing data or cache won’t erase installed apps or any other personal data from your phone. Deleting the data only resets the settings available in the Play Store app.
To clear the cache and data from Google Play Store, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Applications & Notifications or Applications.
2nd step: Under All apps, tap Google Play Store.
Stage 3: Press Storage. Then tap Clear cache. Restart the phone. If the problem persists, tap Clear storage or data.
Step 4: Repeat the steps for Google Play services if the issue is not resolved.
8. Uninstall updates from Google Play Store
You cannot uninstall the Google Play Store from your phone as it is a preinstalled system and application. But, you can uninstall its updates. This solved the blank screen problem for many Play Store users.
To do this, open Settings on your phone and go to Applications. Tap Google Play Store. Now tap the three dots icon at the top and select Uninstall Updates from the menu. Restart your phone and wait 3 to 5 minutes to let the Play Store update automatically in the background.
9. Disable security applications
Do you use performance enhancement or cache clearing applications? If so, try disabling or uninstalling them for a while to see if it resumes normal Play Store operation.
10. Reset application preferences
You should also try to reset the app preferences on your Android phone. This will not delete any personal data but will reset all of your phone’s settings to their default values. So, if a problematic setting was responsible for the white screen problem in the Play Store, it will be corrected.
To reset application preferences, go to Settings> Applications. Tap the three-dot icon at the top and select Reset app preferences. We’ve covered the steps in detail and what happens when you reset the app preferences. Check our message.
11. Update phone software
There could be a time lag between your Play Store version and the phone software. So check if an update is available for your phone. You can do this by going to Settings> System> Software Update.
12. Update the Play Store manually
Sometimes the problem may be related to the current version of your Play Store. Typically, the Play Store updates automatically. But, for that, you will have to wait for the update to take place. You can also update the Play Store manually. We covered the steps to do so in our dedicated article on manually updating the Play Store.
13. Delete a Google account
If nothing works, you need to delete the Google account from your phone. Read what happens when you delete the Google account before proceeding to this step.
Once you agree with the repercussions, go to Settings> Accounts on your phone. Tap the Google account and select Delete.
Take a look at the Google account
If you have tried all of the above steps, the issue could be related to your Google Account. Do you use a custom domain like @ googlemail.com for the Play Store? If so, you must use a Google account with the @ gmail.com domain. Hopefully the Play Store will no longer be blank and white.
