5 Best Ways to Take a Screenshot on Android 11

Android 11 introduces several new and exciting features like chat bubbles, notification history, media controls, and more. As with every new update, some features are also downgraded in Android 11. Method 1: Take a screenshot from the recent app screen

In Android 11, Google removed the power button screenshot option. If you hold down the power button, you will no longer see the option to take a screenshot. This is because now it is available under the recent apps screen. So you need to open recent apps screen (app preview or multitasking screen) after upgrading your phone to Android 11. In the lower left corner you will find the Screenshot option.

Launch the app you want to take a screenshot of and open the recent apps screen. Tap the Screen Capture option. A preview of the screenshot will appear once you take it. You can share it directly or edit the screenshot before sharing or saving it using the available Share and Edit options.

There is a major downside to this method. You cannot take a screenshot of your home screen, app drawer, or notification panel. This method only takes screenshots of open applications.

Additionally, some users cannot take a screenshot using this method on their Android 11 devices. They do not see the screenshot option in their recent apps screen. For these users, we suggest changing the navigation mode to gesture or 3 button navigation instead of 2 buttons.

To do this, open the settings on your phone. Go to System> Gestures> System navigation. Select Gesture or 3-Button Navigation.

Method 2: Using the Power + Volume Buttons

If you don’t like the above method, the traditional combination of power button and volume down still works on all Android devices. Method 3: Using Google Assistant

One of the super powers of Google Assistant is taking a screenshot. Launch the app you want to capture a screenshot on. Open the Google Assistant by pressing the home button, gesturing, or saying the command “Ok Google”. When active, say Take screenshot or type the same. It will immediately take a screenshot. You can edit or share it.

Method 4: Using the accessibility menu

You can also activate the accessibility menu on your phone and take a screenshot using any of the buttons. When enabled, you need to swipe up with two fingers from the bottom of the screen. A set of accessibility options will appear, such as Power, Volume up and down, Notifications, etc. Use the arrow button at the bottom to browse the pages. On the second page you will find the Screenshot option. Tap on it to take a screenshot.

To activate the Accessibility menu, go to Settings> Accessibility. Activate the toggle for the Accessibility menu shortcut. Tap it if you want to activate the Accessibility menu by pressing the volume buttons instead of swiping up.

Note: By enabling accessibility services, you may see some new controls in your apps that might bother you. For example, YouTube will have more onscreen button controls. So if you see something weird on your phone, it can be happening by turning on accessibility services.
