First 7 Things to Do on Your New Samsung Phone
In this article we have compiled a list of the top 7 things to do on your new Samsung phone to get the most out of it. As the list will be a bit long, let's start, shall we?
1. Configure navigation gestures
You may already know that most Samsung devices come with the conventional navigation bar at the bottom. If you are looking for a more intuitive navigation system, you must activate the gestures immediately. Most new Samsung devices are delivered ready-to-use with Android 9 Pie, and you can configure the navigation moves just as easily.
To do this, go to Settings> View> navigation bar option and select Gestures in full screen. As soon as you do, you will notice that the navigation bar is replaced by three bars. Well, using them is a kid's game.
Dragging up from left / right will take you one step back as you slide from the center to the home page. To access the Overview Selection menu, drag your finger from the top to the center. Cool, no?
2. Remove Bloatware
Lately, Samsung has managed to reduce the number of preinstalled applications in the new One UI. However, there are few useless applications, especially on low budget or medium devices. These
To remove these apps, open the application tray, touch and hold the app, and select Uninstall if you are using the One UI default launcher.
Go to Settings> Applications and uninstall the ones you can delete. Note that Samsung phones do not allow you to uninstall some native applications such as Files and Notes.
3. Reduce animations
Yes, these animations in Samsung One UI are rather simple. But if the animations are good to watch, they tend to make your phone a bit slow. Fortunately, you can reduce animations for a more fluid and fluid experience.
To do this, skip Advanced Features in Settings and switch the switch for Minimize animations. That's it. Now your phone will be faster and more responsive than before.
4. Adjust quick settings
Ok, the settings are all done. Now it's time to personalize your phone. In One UI, you can fully customize the Quick Settings panel. Here you can delete the buttons you do not need and add the ones you use the most.
To personalize it, swipe the screen down to bring up the shadow of the notifications and press the three-dot menu button, as shown in the screen capture below. Next, select Button Order from the drop-down menu and drag the buttons up, which you do not need.
This is not everything. You can also choose the number of buttons in the Quick Settings menu via the Button Grid option. Currently, you can choose from three different grid sizes, including a 3×3 grid and a 5×3 grid.
5. Play with always on the display
If you have purchased a Samsung device with an AMOLED display, you must be familiar with the Always On Display (AOD) feature. In addition to giving your phone a chic look, it allows you to see important information such as notifications and missed calls and messages. And the best thing to do is that you do not even need to unlock the phone or turn on the screen to see them.
However, in my opinion, the default screen is a bit too traditional. The mantra is to customize it according to your choice. Fortunately, you can almost change everything from clock style to color.
Go to Settings> Locked Screen> Permanent Display, and then tap Clock Style. Here you can choose from several different clocks and also change color.
If you are not satisfied with the built-in faces, you can slide to the far right and press the Paintbrush icon to download third-party themes in the Galaxy Theme Store.
At the same time, you can also choose the time at which you want the CAD to be enabled. At the time of writing this article, you can choose between Tap to View, Show Always, and View as expected.
Cool tip: To see information about your music, toggle the switch to Show Music Info.
6. Enable Smart Pop-Up Display
Another nice feature of Samsung One UI is the Smart pop-up display. When you receive a notification from one of the authorized applications, this feature displays all notifications in a balloon. When you tap on it, it expands to show you the details of the message. And that's not all. You can resize the window or move it as you do on your PC.
To enable it, go to Advanced Settings> Smart Popup View, and switch the switch for the applications for which you want to use this feature. The smart contextual view works best for messaging applications such as WhatsApp and the default email application.
The best thing to do is that the current application remains open below, while you can continue your work in the pop-up window.
7. Disable duplicate Samsung apps
Last but not least, remove all duplicate Samsung apps that you will not use. So, if you prefer Chrome or Firefox to Samsung's default Internet browser, it's best to disable or uninstall Samsung.
To disable duplicate apps, tap and hold the app's icon and select Disable. Neat, no?
Beautify your phone
If your phone has dashboards, then you need to customize these panels. By default, there are about five panels, such as People, Calendar, Applications, among others. Fortunately, you can delete those you do not need (or add some to others) or change their order.
To customize the panels, slide your finger inward from the activation area, and then tap the Settings button in the lower-left corner. And you know the rest!
