How to Enable Ambient Mode in Google Assistant

google assistant ambient mode

The ambient mode of Google Assistant was initially intended for smart display devices. But since then, Google has also extended it to two smartphones. Ambience mode lets you control song tracks, view Google Photos albums, or even control your smart home devices. It even allows you to take a look at various events such as notifications, calendars, reminders, etc. All of this could be done without unlocking your device.

The ambient mode of Google Assistant only works while your device is charging. Therefore, the question of draining the battery will not even arise in the first place. However, not all devices have received this update. What is more surprising is that even the Pixel series does not even appear in the list of candidates. That said, let's take a look at the devices that received the Google Assistant Ambient Mode feature. Plus, you can even let Google Assistant read you the news. Check out our guide on the same.

Custom Notifications

ambient notifications

By default, you will not see any notification of any application in Google Assistant's ambient mode. To activate it, tap on the See your notifications in ambient mode option. In the next screen that appears, tap Activate in settings. This will take you to the The notifications section. Activate the rocker next to Google.

Photo album in the lock screen

Photo album

To see an album on your home screen, turn on the Photo frame on ambient screen option. This is located under the personalization Google Assistant tab. Then press Select Google Photos albums. This will take you to pics app (which has just received a markup tool). Just select the album you want to see on your lock screen.

This was only Google Assistant's Ambient Mode feature. We can not help but notice the strange selections of OEMs receiving this update. One of Pixel's USP devices is that they are sure to be the first to receive the latest Google features. But with the device completely absent from this list, Google surely did not meet his expectations (perhaps another reason why we should not buy a pixel 4?). The omission of Samsung devices is also quite surprising.

Whatever it is, we would like to know your opinion on the ambient mode in Google Assistant. Add your comments below and share your thoughts on the same topic.
