Two-factor Snapchat authentication
Follow the steps below to enable two-factor authentication in the multimedia messaging app.
- Launch the Snapchat app on your device.
- Tap your profile icon located at the top left of the screen.
- Now press settings icon at the top right of the screen.
- You should see an option for Two-factor authentication. Tap it.
- Press on Continue to configure the security function on your profile.
- There are two ways to enable two-factor authentication on Snapchat. You can choose to send a security code to your mobile phone number or you can use an authentication app.
- The verification by SMS is quite simple and you just have to enter the SMS code that you receive on your mobile number.
- If you choose to take the alternative route with an authentication app, we suggest that you use Authy, Google Authenticator, or Microsoft authenticator.
- Download and install one of the three authentication apps.
- Configure the app on your Android device.
- Go back to Snapchat and the Two-factor authentication settings select Authentication application.
- Then press Configure automatically.
- The app will automatically detect the authentication app installed on your device.
- Go to the authentication app and enter the six-digit code you see in the authentication app on Snapchat.
- Follow the steps and two-factor authentication will be enabled on your Snapchat account.
Once you've enabled two-factor authentication on your Snapchat account, you no longer have to worry about easy account hacking. Of course, two-step authentication does not guarantee that your account will never be hacked. But it strengthens the security of your account when it is activated.
In addition, you also have the option of generating a Retrieve the code when setting up two-factor authentication on Snapchat.
