How to Fix EpocCam Not Working on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet

IT companies and organizations around the world allow employees to work from home unlimited or until 2021. Working from home can be a smooth experience when you have essentials such as high internet speed, capable router , a webcam and a microphone. But what if you don’t have a webcam? You can use your iPhone or Android as a webcam using applications like EpocCam and iVCam.

Setting up these apps as a webcam is simple, but it can be confusing for beginners. We have seen many users try applications like EpocCam and get connection errors due to bad practices.

In this article, we will cover the top five ways to fix EpocCam not working as expected with video calling apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. Troubleshooting solutions include downloading required drivers, updating applications, changing application settings, and more. Let’s start.

1. Download the drivers required for EpocCam

EpocCam offers the EpocCam viewing application to test the live stream from the phone’s camera to the PC. You can download the EpocCam app on iPhone or Android and the EpocCam viewer on Mac / PC to see the app in action. But to activate EpocCam in Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, you need to download the drivers required for the application.

Go to Kinoni.com and you will find the macOS and Windows drivers for the application. Download and install them on your device.

2. Change the application settings

After downloading and installing the EpocCam drivers to your desktop, you will need to change the default camera settings to use EpocCam to convert your phone to a webcam on Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.

For Zoom, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open the app on Mac or Windows and tap the Settings icon at the top.

2nd step: Go to the video section and change the default camera from FaceTime HD to EpocCam.

After that, each time you join a meeting on Zoom, the software uses EpocCam and displays the stream from the phone’s front camera during meetings.

For Microsoft Teams, open the Teams app on Mac / PC and tap the profile icon at the top and go to Settings. Go to the Devices menu and select Kinoni Audio Services from the microphone menu. In the same menu, select EpocCam as the default video camera on Microsoft Teams.

Google Meet

You also need to change the Google Meet settings. Open Google Meet on the web. From the Home screen, tap the settings icon at the top. From the Audio menu, select Kinoni Audio Source as the default microphone. From the Video menu, select EpocCam Camera as the default video camera on Google Meet.

3. Use the same Wi-Fi network

EpocCam displays the flow from the camera from your phone to the laptop. For a successful broadcast, make sure the phone and laptop are connected to the same high speed Wi-Fi network.

I tried to connect my laptop to the phone’s internet via a mobile hotspot, and it didn’t work as expected. You can also use a USB data cable to connect your phone to Mac or PC and start the video call using the EpocCam app.

4. Update the application to the latest version

No, I’m not talking about updating the EpocCam viewer application on Mac or PC. You must keep the Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype applications in the latest version for a smooth distribution.

It happened to me earlier last week. EpocCam suddenly stopped working with Zoom on my Mac. The EpocCam option has disappeared from the zoom settings menu. An application update was available. After I updated the Zoom app to the latest version, this problem is gone.

5. Update the EpocCam drivers

If the EpocCam service still does not work for you, you should consider updating the EpocCam drivers to the latest version. As companies launch new video applications, EpocCam releases updates to keep the service in sync with these applications.

Follow the steps below to update the EpocCam drivers on your Windows laptop.

Step 3: From the Audio input and output option, you will find the Kinoni microphone which is responsible for using your phone’s microphone as the default microphone on video applications. Right-click on the Kinon microphone and select the driver update.

Step 4: Scroll down and go to the Sound, Video and Game controllers and update the EpocCam drivers.
