Google has abandoned the photo sync policy on Google Drive, but many people still prefer to have a sync option. Fortunately, even though the two services have separated, we discovered a workaround that lets you sync Google Drive and Google Photos. A simple tool Google Backup and Synchronization lets you do that!
How to sync Google Drive and Google Photos
You can back up and synchronize your files with your Mac or Windows computer using the Google Backup and Sync tool. Do this:
- Download backup and synchronization to your PC
- Grant permission to access photos
- Add photos to Google folder
Let’s go on.
1]Download the Google Backup and Synchronization Tool to your PC
Google Backup and Sync offers the most reliable way to protect the files and photos that matter most to you. It replaces the existing Google Photos Desktop and Drive download program for PC / Mac.
The tool backs up files and photos securely to Google Drive and Google Photos so they are no longer on your computer or other devices.
If you haven’t downloaded Backup and Sync yet, download it to your PC.
Log in with your Google account (email id and password).
2]Grant permission to access photos
Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, run the app and if you’re asked to access your photos, grant permission.
3]Add photos to Google folder
The app will install a folder on your computer called Google Drive. You can simply drag photos and documents to the folder to synchronize its content with Google Drive on Google servers.
You can also select folders on your computer for continuous backup to Google Drive. You can find the photos in the ‘Computers‘Tab to drive.google.com.
Below, any changes you make to this folder will be reflected on your PC will be reflected in Google Drive.
This means that the photos you upload to a service, and any changes you make to them, are reliably displayed in the other place, synchronized with your account.
