OK, so you only recently bought a new Surface device, or have had one for a while now, and for some strange, but unknown reason, maybe after Windows update, the & #39; 39; display does not rotate. We know your Surface was designed to rotate content on the screen every time you turn and turn it, which is the same as your smartphone. Now, when the screen doesn't turn out as expected, the first thing that many users are concerned about is probably that the product is defective.
Surface screen does not rotate
In most cases, this is not the case at all. The rotation depends on the software; therefore, we can assume that changes were made to Windows 10 without your knowledge which caused the rotation to fail. We are going to look at a few options so you can determine what is causing it, so keep reading, ladies and gentlemen.
How to automatically rotate the Surface screen
If your Surface device’s screen doesn’t turn automatically, try the following suggestions to resolve Surface’s automatic rotation issues:
- Remove the surface cover or any external screen
- Take a look at the auto rotation settings
- Restart your Surface
- Install the latest Windows 10 and firmware updates
- Run the sensor troubleshooter
- Restore your Surface.
1) Remove the surface cover or any external screen
When the Surface input cover is attached or an external screen, the screen is locked in landscape mode for the entire time. Now, to get things going, the best option is to disconnect the cover from the surface or the external display.
After doing these things, check if your display now turns automatically without any problems.
2) Take a look at the auto rotation settings
If you're still having issues, this may have a lot to do with the auto rotation settings than anything else. To verify this, please remove the cover and swipe in from the right edge of the screen to display the Action Center.
From there you should see the Automatic rotation lock, and if it is grayed out, it means it is disabled. To activate it, press the lock with your finger or mouse, and it should do that.
Note that the automatic rotation is locked automatically once the surface cover is attached and in the striking position. Folding down the cover should activate automatic rotation unless it is locked in the first place.
3) Restart your Surface
What we have here is one of the basic fixes of everything that has to do with Windows 10. In most cases, a simple restart of the computer is good enough to get the job done, c & So what are we going to do now, OK? Well.
To turn off your computer, click the Windows button, then go to Power> Shut down. Once the Surface has failed, please press the physical power button to reactivate it. From there, then check if the rotation is working properly.
4) Install the latest Windows 10 and firmware updates
Chances are the latest version of Windows 10 and Surface drivers and firmware may not be installed on your computer; therefore, we need to correct this. Keep in mind that your Surface computer requires both Windows 10 firmware and updates to maintain optimal performance.
Updating your Windows 10 operating system on Surface is simple. Just click on the WinKey + I to launch the Settings app, then go to Updates & Security. Finally click on Windows Update> Check for Updates, and that's it.
5) Run the sensor troubleshooter
Running the troubleshooter is super easy. Just open the sensor troubleshooter, then follow the on-screen instructions, and that’s it.
6) Restore your Surface
The last step today, which should always be a last resort, is to restore your Surface computer to the way it was before. Keep in mind that restoring might remove recently installed apps and drivers, so keep that in mind before you go any further, old boyfriend.
To restore your Surface to a previous version of Windows 10, go to Select Start> Settings> Update & Security> Recovery. You should now go to the section that says Revert to the previous version of Windows 10, and click on Start to begin the process.
