Top 3 Ways to Fix Your Clock Is Ahead/Behind Error in Google Chrome

Although the Chrome web browser continues to improve, it is normal to experience problems when used occasionally on your computer. If you are trying to visit a website and you receive an error message, “Your clock is early” or “Your clock is late”, don’t be put off. Typically, Chrome will display this error if there is a problem with the time and date setting on your PC. However, you can also attribute the error to other factors. We cover everything you need to know about fixing Chrome’s “ Your clock is early ” error below.

1. Correcting the incorrect date and time on your PC

Security certificates help your browser protect you on the Internet. If the date on your device (mobile or PC) is incorrect, it could interfere with Chrome’s ability to verify security certificates from a website. This is another reason why you will see the error “Your clock is early” on your computer screen. To fix this, simply adjust the time and date on your computer.

Step 1: Right-click the date and time section of your computer’s taskbar.

2nd step: Select the “Adjust date / time” option.

This redirects you to the “Date and time” section of the Windows Settings menu.

Step 3: If the date and time on your PC are incorrect, deactivate the “Set the time automatically” option.

Step 4: Under the option “Set the time and date manually”, press the Modify button.

Alternatively, you can simply synchronize the time on your PC with the Windows time server. In this way, you can be sure of having a precise and updated time / date on your computer. Note: Synchronizing your clock with Windows Time Server requires an active Internet connection.

2. Clear cookies and browser cache

Temporary files (cached images and cookies) storing incorrect or outdated calendar and time information are sometimes responsible for the “Your time is early (or late)” error on your Chrome browser. Chrome can get (incorrect) time and date information from these files, making it necessary to delete them. This would force Chrome to retrieve date and time information from your computer.

Deleting these temporary files could remove this error. Here’s how.

Step 1: Tap the Chrome menu icon in the upper right corner of the browser.

2nd step: Select Settings.

This opens the Chrome Settings menu in a new tab.

Step 3: Expand the Advanced Settings menu.

Step 4: Then select “Confidentiality and security”.

Step 5: Click on the “Clear browsing data” option.

Step 6: Press the Time range drop-down button and change the time range to All the time.

Step 7: Make sure that the “Cookies and other site data” and Cached images and files options are checked, then press the Clear data button to continue.

This will delete all browser cookies and cache files. When the process is complete, close the Chrome browser and restart your computer. On restarting, the error “Your clock is ahead / below” should no longer appear.

Note: Deleting cookies and cached files will disconnect you from most websites that you have previously connected to in the browser. However, your Google Account will remain connected.

3. Replace the CMOS battery
