Top 7 Ways to Fix Fire TV Stick Not Connecting to Wi-Fi

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is one of the best streaming devices on the market. It offers a fantastic bunch of content and has other incredible features that convert a regular TV into a smart TV. Without a Wi-Fi connection, however, it is almost impossible to use many features of Fire TV to their full potential.

If you’re on this page because your Fire TV Stick has connectivity issues, go directly to the section below for troubleshooting tips on repairing a Fire Fire Stick that doesn’t connect to a Wi- Fi.

1. Check the limitations / restrictions of the router

If you’re having trouble connecting the Fire TV key to a Wi-Fi network, there are a few things to check with your router first. To get started, one of the ideal troubleshooting steps is to confirm that the Wi-Fi router is actually working properly and has no limitations that prevent the Fire TV key from connecting to the router. You must verify that the router does not have DHCP disabled, otherwise you must assign a static IP address to the Fire TV key.

Router

If the number of devices connected to the router has reached the defined limit, you can either increase the number of simultaneous connections (if possible) or disconnect a device to make room for the Fire TV key. You can also manually assign your Fire TV key its unique IP address via the DHCP menu on your router.

You should also check the router’s admin panel to confirm that your Fire TV key is not blocked or blacklisted. If this is the case, you must unblock or whitelist your Fire TV key and try to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.

2. Display the Wi-Fi SSID

You should also make sure that the Wi-Fi network to which you are trying to connect your Fire TV key is not hidden. Otherwise, it will not appear in the list of networks available on your Fire TV key. You therefore have two choices: display the network or connect to the hidden Wi-Fi using the method below.

Step 1: Access the Settings menu of the Fire TV key.

2nd step: Select network.

Amazon recommends using the Fire TV Stick with the HDMI Extender at all times. Besides improving network performance, it also solves some Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

That said, if you are using the Fire TV key without the HDMI extension and are unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network, try connecting the device to your TV using the extension and try again.

7. Restore the default Fire TV key

If your Fire TV key does not connect to your (or any) Wi-Fi network after trying all of the methods listed above, you should perform a factory reset. This option should be considered as a last resort if all other solutions fail. Restoring your Fire TV key to factory settings would delete all content and data downloaded to the device.
