There are two ways to change the registered owner and the organization: Windows Ultimate Tweaker and registry modification. We suggest using the first option as it is much more comfortable. On top of that, our free Windows Ultimate Tweaker software offers several improvements that are not easy to find in Windows settings.

1) Using Windows Ultimate Tweaker

Download and open Ultimate Windows Tweaker. To edit the registered owner and organization information, go to More, and then click the Change OEM Information link. This will open a pop-up window where you can edit the following:

  • Maker
  • Model
  • Support URL, phone and hours
  • Information about the owner and the organization.

Make the changes and click OK. Typically, a reboot is not necessary, but if you do not see the changes, restart your computer.

2) Use of the register

When you install a new copy of Windows 10, you are usually prompted to enter a The name of the owner and Name of organization or company. Most of the time, we skip this step. To change registered owner now:

  • Open the registry editor by using regedit.exe in the prompt, followed by the Enter key.
  • Move towards HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion key
  • Locate the key that says Registered owner
  • Double-click to edit it.
  • Now, type the name you prefer and click
  • Exit register.

Similarly, double-click RegisteredOrganization key, and add what you want to add there. Now when you type winver again, you should see the name you have entered.

It is always a good idea to back up the registry or to quickly create a system restore point before touching the registry.

As this is a basic feature, it will not be synchronized with your Microsoft account and you must change it every time you install the operating system. If you give your computer to someone after setting it up, you can choose to change the name of the owner on his behalf.
