How to Save Battery on Samsung Galaxy Active 2
Despite being a little disappointed, I didn't give it up easily. I dived deep into the settings and made some changes, and my Galaxy Active 2 now gives me around 2.5 days of battery life on a single charge.
If you are in a similar situation, here are some ways to save the battery of the Samsung Galaxy Active 2.
1. Disable unused connections
One of the first things I did was to turn off the Wi-Fi connection. I don't use it often, and it spoils the battery life as if it were ; there was no tomorrow. No kidding.
So, all I did was pull up the Quick Settings menu and turn off Wi-Fi. For the uninitiated, the option is on the second page.
And fortunately, after this action, the battery life of my smartwatch has improved considerably. I had an extra half day of independence. So yes, I moved about 2 days. But wait, I hadn't finished yet.
There are a few others like NFC mode and location settings that you can turn off if you don't use them regularly. For now, I have kept Bluetooth.
2. Adjust the heart rate
If you have not changed the default heart rate monitoring settings, it is likely that it is still in its default state. This means that it will continuously measure your heart rate. Well, you know the result. Yes, poor battery performance.
In my case, I had to monitor my heart rate on and off as it tends to get very high at times. Therefore, I switched from continuous mode to 10 minute interval mode.
To do this, go to the HR monitor widget, scroll down and tap the Settings icon.
Once inside, tap the second option, and that's it.
If monitoring HR is not a priority for you, you can set it to manual. After all, it only takes a few taps in the rotating bezel to access the widget.
3. Uninstall unused applications
Do you have a lot of unused apps on your Galaxy Active 2? Perhaps you have installed some and have forgotten everything?
If so, it's time to kick them out of your smartwatch. To do this, open the Wearable app and tap Apps> Manage apps and tap the tiny Minus icon next to the apps.
Did you know: You can view all recent applications from the Applications widget.
4. Fancy dial
Do you have a fancy dial with many brightly colored icons? As great as it sounds on this AMOLED screen, the sad news is that the bright and colorful dials on the watch can end up shortening battery life.
Solution? Get an AMOLED watch face.
Unlike other watch faces, AMOLED watch faces have more black areas, which saves battery power as most of the screen pixels stay off. The good news is that there are many watch faces in the Samsung Galaxy Store. From minimalist faces to heavy little faces, he has them all. All you have to do is choose one and install it.
Just look for the AMOLED or Dark Watch dials on the Galaxy Store.
In my case, I went from my heavy wallpaper dial to this cool red and black watch dial. It doesn't look bad, I would say.
5. Deactivation AOD and lower brightness
The Always On Display screen is a highlight of most of Samsung's flagship products, including the Galaxy Active 2, Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series. These screens show a simplified version of your current watch face when it is inactive.
As you may already know, you can check important statistics such as time, battery, measurements taken, etc. even without waking up the screen. However, the screen stays on at all times means it has a significant impact on the battery life.
To turn it off, go to Settings and scroll down until you see the Battery option.
Then select Watch Always On and turn off the option.
While you're at it, check the screen timeout. I previously selected 1 minute, now I'm back to 15 seconds.
Second, pull down the Quick Settings menu and decrease the brightness level (second icon in the upper row).
Pro tip: You can activate the wake-up gesture if you miss the Always On Display function.
6. Optimize the battery
Your Samsung Galaxy Active 2 comes with an interesting feature called Optimize battery. As the name suggests, this feature helps you optimize the battery life and maintain it longer. For example, if you have enabled Wi-Fi or if the screen brightness is too high, this feature will let you know so that you can take corrective action.
To access battery optimization, go to Settings> battery and scroll down until you see Optimize battery.
Tap it and select Optimize. This is it.
Smartly optimize
Keep the Active 2 connected watch always up to date. It is recommended to keep the automatic download option activated in the settings (portable application> Watch software update).
We know that it is not practical to follow all the steps mentioned above, as they will essentially deprive your smart watch of its main functionality. The key here is to see which of the above recommendations is right for you and keep those changes in the long run.
In my case, disabling the Always On Display function works for me, because the ambient mode of my OnePlus 7 gives me the necessary details. Then I rarely use Wi-Fi, so I can afford to keep it off. The only problem I have is adapting to a softened watch face.
More seriously, the battery life of my watch went from 1.5 days to 3.5 days, and this also when I use the exercise modes daily (5 days a week). .
