Why turn on dark mode

Now that you know how to enable dark mode in Outlook for iOS and Android, let's see some reasons why you might want to leave it on.

1. This is well implemented

Whether you're a fan of dark themes or not, you can not deny the fact that the dark Outlook mode seems simply fabulous – of course, we can agree to disagree. Microsoft has implemented it throughout the entire application, including every nook and cranny such as the calendar.

The only thing that may seem out of place is the File Selector when joining files, which appears blank. However, this will not be a problem if you have also enabled the system-level dark mode in iOS 13 or Android 9.0 Pie and later.

But no matter how good the user interface looks in dark mode, it's the emails themselves that will be the real test. Surprisingly, Outlook handles everything seamlessly, images being perfectly rendered on a darker background. No summary image inversion.

Although you encounter a few cases where some images (especially ones that are already dark enough, for starters) do not freeze well with the dark theme, this is not a puzzle.

2. It helps to save the life of the dough

Another important reason to turn on dark mode in Outlook is to extend the life of the battery. If you fend around a smartphone with an OLED display, such as a Samsung Galaxy S10 or an Apple iPhone XS, use the dark mode will help you to experience the difference.

OLED panels turn off pixels to produce deep blacks, so you can expect significant improvements in battery life. This requires an application that implements perfect black pixels and, fortunately, Outlook contains a good dose of these everywhere, with only tiny shades of gray to emphasize the sections and other key elements of the user interface.

Dark energy

Microsoft Outlook was already one of the best third-party email clients on iOS and Android, and the dark mode only serves to improve it. Whether for aesthetics or to get a little more battery of your smartphone, the fantastic dark theme of Outlook will not disappoint you.
