How to remove eBook DRM with Calibre

Remove DRM from ebook with the help of Caliber

The Caliber tool can not delete the DRM ebook, but you must add a DRM removal plug-in to link the DRM e-book. Here’s how you can distinguish DRM from ebook using the Caliber plugin.

In this article, we explain how to remove ebook DRM on Windows PC using the Caliber DeDRM plugin.

1. Install the Caliber and DeDRM plugins

Download the latest version of Caliber. Run the installation program and select the type of e-book reader you are using. Choose the appropriate options to complete the installation.

Download the DeDRM plugin right here. Add the DeDRM_ plugin.zip file in Caliber.

Launch Caliber and go to preferences tab of the menu bar.

Select the option Change the behavior of the template in the drop-down menu.

Go to the Advanced section in a new window and click on Plugins.

Click on Load the plugin file button and select the DeDRM_plugin zip folder. A pop-up window appears to warn you of the security risk.

Ignore the risk and click Yes button.

The zip file will be installed in the Caliber and will appear under File Type Plugins.

To restart Caliber.

2. Strip off the DRM digital book

If you have ebooks on your desktop, simply drag the ebooks into the main interface of Caliber. The tool will automatically delete the DRM.

However, the steps are not the same if you have downloaded books on your Kindle e-ink devices.

If you are using Kindle e-ink devices, connect Kindle to Caliber via USB. It will show all the titles of the book.

Go to preferences and click Advanced.

To select plugins and click on the File type plugins button.

Double click DeDRM Plugin and click on the Customize the plugin button.

Select the e-ink Kindle ebooks option to configure in a new Customize DeDRM window.

In the new pop-up window that appears, enter the serial number of the Kindle. You can find your Kindle serial number in Google by entering the location of the series as well as the name of the Kindle model.

Once you know the serial number, type it in the blank box and click the OK button.

Close the window and, in the Calibration Preferences window, click Apply.

DRM will be deleted automatically.

If the plugin fails to remove DRM, grab all books from the library, reload the template, and add ebooks to the library again. Also make sure that you have installed the latest version of the plugin.
