In this article, we will describe how you can quickly and easily configure and use the Signature Surface Pro X keyboard with your Surface Slim Pen. The Signature Surface Pro X keyboard is designed for Surface Pro X to store and charge your thin pen. It has a large glass trackpad and Alcantara material.
Set up and use the Signature Surface Pro X keyboard
This keyboard is only compatible with Surface Pro X. The numbers in the image above are listed below.

Configure your keyboard
You can use your keyboard to charge and wake up your pen. Here's how:
- Attach the top of your keyboard to the bottom of your Surface Pro X.
- Place your pen in the storage bin. Wait a moment or let the pen fully charge. When you're ready, remove the stylus to start writing on your Surface.
When the LED light on your Slim Pen turns orange, place it in the storage bin to charge it. See the table below for more information on LED light.
Connect your Slim Pen to a surface
There are two ways to automatically connect your Slim Pen to a Surface Pro X.
Here's how:
- Place your pen in the storage tray of a Signature Surface Pro X keyboard, and then remove it.
- You can also use Swift Connect to automatically connect your Slim Pen.
To do this, simply write on the screen with your pen. A setup experience will appear and help you customize your pen.
You can also pair your device via Bluetooth.
Here's how:
- Select Start> Settings> Devices> Add Bluetooth or another device> Bluetooth.
- Press and hold the top button of your stylus for 5 to 7 seconds until the LED indicator flashes white to activate the Bluetooth pairing mode.
- To select Surface Slim Pen to pair your pen.
