OnePlus Nord 2

There are plenty of new Nord devices on the way, but perhaps the most important is the OnePlus Nord 2. Here’s what we know about the phone so far.

OnePlus Nord 2: all there is to know.

Name and release date

Rumors of a OnePlus Nord 2 first became known in November 2020. News of a new OnePlus device called Key Denniz indicated that the company was working on a sequel to Nord.

The Nord 2 was finally officially mentioned in May, albeit via a seemingly random listing on OnePlus’ own website. The leak was linked to a phone that qualified for a deal with Stadia Premiere Edition.

OnePlus then officially confirmed the phone with OnePlus Nord 2 5G as the full name. He then confirmed the launch date of July 22, 2021.

Pricing and availability

The OnePlus North debuted at $ 399 as a direct competitor to mid-range devices from Google, Apple and Samsung. However, we don’t expect OnePlus to jack up the price of the North 2 too much: with the OnePlus 9 starting at € 719 in Europe and US $ 729 in the US, the company still has some leeway. .

Now that we know the Density 1200 rumor is true, OnePlus could target the high-end mid-range market. MediaTek’s silicon is generally a bit cheaper than its Qualcomm counterparts, so the Nord 2 may be a cheap flagship killer.

In support of this, a rumor suggests that the Nord 2 could be much more expensive in India than the previous model. The phone is rumored to hit the market for Rs 31,999 (~ $ 427), which is Rs 7,000 (~ $ 93) more than the original. North catalog price.

Specifications and Features

OnePlus has relied solely on Qualcomm silicon for its devices, but the OnePlus Nord 2 marks a turning point. OnePlus has confirmed that the Nord 2 will be the brand’s first phone with a MediaTek chip, i.e. Density. 1200.

Later, OnePlus took to Twitter to reveal that the Nord 2 will sport a 6.43-inch 90Hz AMOLED panel with HDR10 + certification. This is more of an iterative jump from the original north than a complete overhaul. A 4,500mAh battery provides power, which would be an increase over the northern 4,115mAh cell. There’s almost certainly an undisputed fingerprint sensor on board as well.

As for images, OnePlus has confirmed that the phone will have a 50 MP IMX766 main camera sensor with optical image stabilization; the IMX766 is the same sensor used for the ultra-wide cameras of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro and a 2MP tertiary sensor. The company has not verified these specifications.

This time around, there is no dual selfie camera with a single 32 MP shooter on the front. Seems like a good move as the First North’s selfie performance left a lot to be desired.

The phone could be offered in two RAM / memory configurations namely 8GB / 128GB and 12GB / 256GB.

OnePlus Nord 2: Layout

Above you can see a leaked render for the OnePlus Nord 2. These are from Steve Hemmers’ proven offering filter, so we’re confident they’re accurate.

We’ve also seen renderings and leaks from other sources, including Evan Blass and even OnePlus itself.

As you can see immediately, this sequel to the original Nord takes a lot of design features from the OnePlus 9 series, which makes a bit of sense there, the Nord took a lot of clues from the OnePlus 8 series, the OnePlus 9R already exists as a budget-conscious phone based on Series 9 designs, but like we said we’ve got a lot of renderings ahead of us so we’ll likely see it.

Note that the renderings seem to confirm that the OnePlus Nord 2 keeps the physical warnings slider, in the past this was something we’d expect on all OnePlus phones, but now it’s with the existence of the North Series N. fell out the window.

These renderings also seem to thwart any hope that the headphone jack will make it to the Nord 2.
