Google Pixel’s Feature Drop: An In-Depth Explanation

pixel feature drop
In this guide, we will perform a detailed analysis of the Google Pixel Drop functionality updates. Pixel cameras have never really succeeded in impressing the masses on the hardware side. But what he fails to do on this front, he more than makes up for with his software. One of the reasons why people buy Pixel devices, apart from its powerful camera, is the promise of receiving the fastest updates. Not just Android updates, but also Google app updates. But unfortunately, even this does not go as promised.

Recently, we saw how the latest ambient mode from the latest Google Assistant failed to make its way to Pixel devices while other OEMs were taking advantage of it from day one. This is where the Google Pixel Feature Drop feature will come in handy. He promises to deliver (or file) major Android updates in batches on each Pixel device. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Let's do an in-depth analysis of the latest Google Pixel feature presented by the giants of Silicon Valley.

What is Pixel Feature Drop All About?

As the name suggests, pixel owners will now receive feature updates, which are posted at a fixed time interval. Previously, there was no calendar as such. While in one update, you would be blessed with tons of new features, the other update has hardly had any significant updates. But everything is about to change. Due to the removal of Google Pixel features, your Pixel devices will now receive quarterly updates with the main built-in features.

These updates will come with the regular security fixes that the devices receive each month. Thus, security updates will continue to be pushed monthly as before, but every three months, Google Pixel owners will also receive a feature package.

Have Pixel devices yet received a drop in functionality?

Yes, recently, Pixel devices received their first Feature Drop feature. Here are all new goodies who came up with.

Improved memory management

Pixel devices will now be able to process cached applications much more efficiently. This will allow you to run more applications simultaneously more efficiently.

Blur functionality of Google Photos

This is one of the cool features of Google Pixel. The Photos app installed on Pixel devices received a blur function. This will allow you to add blur effects to any photo stored on your device. What is more interesting is that these images do not necessarily have to be taken in portrait mode for the blurring effect to occur. On that note, also check out the Crop Document and Markup Tool features of this app.

Update call screening

Call screening is the functionality that comes with Pixel devices. it lets you see who's calling and what they're really talking about. Google Assistant picks up the phone, transcribes everything the caller is talking about. All of this happens live on your screen. And with the Google Pixel Remove Features feature, the call screen feature will now automatically filter and filter calls from unknown phone numbers. And if it detects that it is an unwanted call, the Assistant will not ring at all on your device. For other calls, you will continue to receive the transcription of live calls, as before.

Google Duo Updates

One of my favorites. When on a video call, the last thing you want is an abrupt network connection. If this is the case, apart from the poor video quality, you should always end up repeating the same words over and over. Well, not anymore. With the latest update to Google Pixel Feature Drop for Google Duo, AI will automatically guess what your next sound will be and save you those embarrassing scenarios of repeating the same words countless times.

Another addition to this update is the live background blur feature. When on a video call, it will automatically blur the background. Now you no longer have to worry about messy bedroom backgrounds!

So this was the last Drop feature of Google Pixel. One thing, however, to note is that the updates would initially follow Google's deployment updates. This means that only a handful of users will initially receive these updates which will then pass to the larger masses. If this is indeed the case, it would destroy all the objectives of the Drop functionality, it seems.
