To pair your modern Microsoft keyboard with the fingerprint ID, follow the steps below.
1. Connect the supplied USB cable to your Surface or Windows 10 device and your keyboard.

During charging, the white LED above the up arrow key flashes. Once fully charged, the white LED will remain steady. When your batteries are low and need to be charged, a red LED flashes.

3. On your Surface PC or Windows 10, tap the toast notification message that appears in the lower-right corner of your screen.
The keyboard driver will then download / install and automatically pair the modern Microsoft keyboard with the fingerprint ID to your Surface or Windows 10 PC. If you miss the toast notification message or can’t tap it, turn the keyboard off and on to restart the pairing process.
Note: To install the Fingerprint ID driver, your Surface PC or Windows 10 must be connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet before pairing. If you are unable to configure the keyboard while connected to the Internet, you can manually install the Fingerprint identification driver.
Once you’ve set up your accessory, you can use it with or without the USB cable connected to your Surface PC or Windows 10.
4. To configure your fingerprint ID for Windows Hello, the modern Microsoft keyboard with fingerprint ID does not need to be connected to your Surface or Windows 10 PC using the supplied USB cable .
